My son made this amazing cinnamon babka!

Everyone was sick on thanksgiving so I cut back on desserts. I went to the apple orchard and got a bag of seconds so I had to use them. I made 2 apple crisp pies. Going to drop one off to my parents after lunch.

I started my Christmas cookies. I will freeze them so they stay fresh. My goal is to make:
Chocolate chip
Gooey chocolate butter cookies
Whipped shortbread
Thumbprints
Snickerdoodle
Peanut Butter blossoms
Peanut butter cups
Peppermint meltaways

I’d also like to try a couple of new kinds but we’ll see how much I get done before running out of time.

@LoveDaisy- The ooey chocolate cookies sound good. I googled and came across a recipe. Do they have chocolate cake mix and cream cheese? Might have to add these to my list. Trying to find something chocolate besides chocolate crinkles.

Do you freeze already baked cookies? I always freeze the dough and then do a big baking weekend. Unfortunately, the weekend I want to do my baking is my weekend to work so freezing already baked cookies would be great. I’m always afraid they won’t taste as good.

Starting my doughs today. This is my third attempt this week as life keeps getting in the way of my cookies.

I have a couple non bake to do but they don't freeze well so will be done a day or two ahead if Christmas Eve.

Yes, the recipe I use uses cream cheese. This is the recipe I use for Chocolate butter cookies. It my husband’s favorite cookie I make this time of year.

I bake my cookies before freezing. I make sure they are totally cooled then put them in large Tupperware with parchment between the layers. I don’t frost cookies that need to be frosted before I freeze them I find the frosting on my Peppermint meltaways does not hold up well when frozen.

I do it this way to save me the last minute madness of baking and because cookies are so time consuming to bake. They hold up remarkably well. Whatever is left goes to a friends 4th of July party (it’s a weird tradition) and no one complains they were frozen for 6 months.

Made some chocolate covered pretzel rods, chocolate chip cookies and brownies for my grandson’s 7th birthday. Then last night I made candied pecans to gift to friends. I tried to make it look like a reindeer with some craft items I had.

I was inspired by you so googled and used this recipe https://iambaker.net/chocolate-ooey-gooey-cookies/#wprm-recipe-container-96343 but I am definitely going to try your recipe next. My DH will happily do a taste test LOL. Thanks for the inspiration for something different. So far he was happy with how these came out but I don't think he would ever complain about anything chocolate!

I didn’t take any pictures. (I’ll have to do that from now on.) But today I made my Big Chocolate Chip Cookies at a friend’s house. They use Ghiradelli Choc Chips 60% cacao. Each cookie is about 1/4 cup of dough. I was a bit hesitant to use someone else’s oven, but it made for a great day and all of our cookies came out great. While she worked on Peanut Butter Blossoms, I made Buckeyes which are a no bake confection. Then I gave her my Coconut Macaroon recipe and we knocked those out.
Yesterday, I made S’mores bars, Butter Cookies and the Coconut Macaroons.
I still need to make the Almond Raspberry Thumbprints, Gingerbread, White Chocolate Chip Cranberry, Hot Cocoa Cookies, Peppermint Bars and Rainbow Cookies (but these are a 2 day process, so I need to make sure I have the time.)
It’s too many really. But everyone has their favorites. And I do freeze them so we’re eating cookies for a VERY long time after Christmas.

I love seeing and hearing what everyone is making! I spent hours yesterday making dough and freezing it, no pics of what I baked. I typically make gingerbread men but have been debating on adding ginger snaps or molasses cookies to my list. I also saw gingerbread cookie bars that looked adorable on Sally’s so I added those to my list. Yesterday morning was kind of a battle of cookies with molasses. Since the ingredients are very similar I lined up 5 stations and got all the dry ingredients ready together.

Sunday is our no electronics day and Dh working for a few hours, which left the kids wanting to help. It was harder than I thought to keep the spices and measuring right with the kids talking nonstop I did do a test cookie of each and they all came out ok so hopefully I didn’t mess any up.

I made the dough for crisp molasses cookies, soft ginger snaps (half with white chocolate chips), gingerbread for gingerbread men, gingerbread cookie bars, and since I had molasses left, I threw in some oatmeal raisin cookies that will be iced next week.

After those were done I made dough for sprinkle sugar cookies, funfetti cookies, and double chocolate chip with a few green/red m&ms. I did bake one double chocolate chip cookie since it is a new one for me, and I already think I might need to make a second batch.

I am debating making and frosting sugar cookies. I am not artistic and while they are my favorite cookie I never make them. I feel like I should have gotten a sweater cookie cutter and claimed they are ugly on purpose. . I’ll report back!
