What did you/are you getting your parents?

I think we might get both sets a nice frame for our wedding photo; I'm getting my dad some cufflinks and flowers for my mum the day of; and hoping to book a Wishes Cruise for just us and the parents to say thanks. I would love to buy them Discovery Cove tickets but not sure if we'll have the cash yet!

My dad, who's paying for the wedding we're getting an ipod video with his favorite cartoon on it..Phebus and Ferb. Also the soundtrack on it.

DFi's parents. we'll get them a framed photo. As well as an album. His dad enjoys trains so they're going to go on the behind the steam train tour. We'll also most likely get them park tickets.

I do plan on making blub books for both my dad and DFi's parents.

We're getting both sets of parents nice blank albums from Things Remembered with something sweet engraved. It's $60/ea. (not inlucding engraving), holds 3 photos for the cover and holds 100 photos inside the album itself. We'll fill it with pictures of their choice once we get our photos back from Randy...we're also getting them hankies.

We ended up getting my parents a digital picture frame since they didn't have one to load up all the pictures! They loved it!

We are getting and paying for dinner for my parents at Bongo's as they love Gloria Estfan. We haven't decided on DF's parents yet but probably something similar. Then, they are each getting smaller gifts of hankies (women) and cufflinks (men).

I got my Mom a lenox figurine of a Mom and the Bride. I got my Dad something but I do not remember what right now it might have been a hat that he wanted. Then of course we gave them a lot of prints once our pictures were in.

For DH's parents I sent them flowers and thanked them for welcoming me so warmly to the family. Then as soon as we has said our vows we called them so they could feel like they were part of our day which they very much were in spirit. They were not able to come because of health reasons.

I also sent my Grandparents flowers and thanked them for being such a positive role model and that I had wished they had been there. And actually the day that my Grandfather died I called and changed the card so that it was addressed only to my Grandmother and had a special message for her but still kept the positive role model aspect. Then we also called her immediately following the ceremony and it was then that I got one of the best lines of the day. "how dare a bride use the cell phone on the day of her wedding can't they just leave technology alone for one day"

My best suggestion is to thing of something that just matches your parents -personality and go with that. My mom loves collectibles so a higher end one was special for her. My MIL loves plants and flowers so she really enjoyed that. It was more of a token from us saying thanks for helping me grow up and thanks for letting me fly on my own wings.
