What day is actually Memorial Day?

I am sorry but I just want to make sure that Memorial Day is Monday right? Trading Spaces has a special on Memorial Day. I will have to tape it if that is Monday and not Sunday.

The actual Memorial Day this year is Friday, May 30, however it is observed on Monday, May 26th.

The original, traditional Memorial Day is May 30. Both DD and FIL have birthdays that day and it drives us all nuts how they have changed the date.

Actually, May 31 was always Memorial Day. Then, as soon as my DD was born on May 31, they changed it to the last Monday in May so people could have a long weekend.
