really, what drive me nuts about Collegiate sports is how the Colleges pimp the players, make millions off them and act like there so honorable they cant let the kid even sale his autograph to buy a burger
The only way I'd agree to paying players is if all players in all sports were paid the same. I'd be good with that. If that's not the case, they might as well ship the trophy to the highest paying team. In some cases, that's going on now. At least, it's not legal. Some teams are being punished, but there are others out there who are still getting away with it. I think all teams should be recruiting on a level playing field.

so if not the heads of colleges should keep all the money

just running into ships ? and getting tangled up in fishing stuff ? cant they break free ?

Just running into ships? More like ships "just" running into them. And no, they very rarely can break free from ghost nets or crab/lobster pot lines. The lines and nets slowly cut into their bodies. At least a shipstrike kills instantly. It takes an average of 6 months of suffering and starvation for a whale to die of entanglement. I won't post pictures, but a simple google search will show you some dismal stuff. A great read if you ever are interested: https://academic.oup.com/icesjms/article/71/4/760/670509

Most sports aren't profitable for the schools. For some colleges, none of the sports are profitable. Others profit from football &/or basketball, but not the other sports. I just don't think it's fair for some colleges to be able to pay athletes, when others can't. Athletes are already compensated well with scholarships, clothing, luxury travel, etc. An additional stipend would be fine, as long as all schools could afford to pay the same.
