What company(ies) could you *never* work for?

:teacher:
Let me do the math on this...

WALMART!

I've never seen so much abuse of employees than that
at Walmart. To put it bluntly, I liken those stores to that
of concentration camps! The way their employees are
treated is shameful!

Sorry, for those working there, but...that's how I feel!

I would never work for Kindercare or any chain daycare center ...such as Bright horizons etc.... They tell you what to do and when to do it.. no thanks I like to use my own curriculum. :Pinkbounc

Any pawn shop or something like that. I can't stand those places.
I don't think I could work for medicare or something like that. No insurance.
I don't think I could take care of small chiildren. if they are over 7 or so, probably, but 3-5 year olds, no way. at least not more than one or two. so Day Care is out of the question.

I've washed dishes and waited tables for a restraunt. And THAT should be on Dirty Jobs. I've seriously considered sending a tape in. You get covered in so much gunk and grime that you either have to laugh or throw up. But I would do it again.

One of those commercials just came on. I hate those.

Sorry, but I find your comparison offensive.

I could never work for any cigarette company, any butcher shop-cant stand the smell, look taste of meat!...and I couldn't work for any car sales place-I think car salesmen are the sleezyest people there are!

The Bush Administration. :lmao:

Actually, about a year or so ago, DH went on a business trip and ended up getting a job offer for a Haliburton subsidiary. He would have gotten a great benefits package and sustantial salary increase. I had a real problem with it, so we really talked it through and he stayed where he was.

As for me, I couldn't work for a school district that had a zero tolerance policy.

A long time ago when we were trying to recover from our separation, we got stupidly sucked into one of those places and spent several months trying to get out. We made friends with the women who worked there and we stop in and see them every once in a while when we eat at Subway (where their shop is located). :teeth:

In Pennsylvania, they've recently placed some kind of restrictions on those loans to where you can only get out so many in a few month period, and then they'll give you one last loan where you can make long-term payments on them. Not that I want to see those girls out of work, but I hope it really puts a dent in those kinds of businesses.

:rolleyes1

I worked at a movie theatre for 14 months making $5.50. I just recently got a whopping raise of $.50. I have NO benefits. The job conditions suck. It's annoying to work there. Where were all the concerned citizens sticking up for me??? As far as I'm concerned, Walmart workers have it pretty dang good. But you know what?? As much as I hated working there, I stayed and looked for a BETTER JOB. And lo and behold, I eventually found one.

As far as where I couldn't work, I am not too picky, but I don't think I could do detassling. Not my cup of tea.

As much as I love animals, I could never work in a vet's office. Just being the waiting room, and seeing another owner get bad news is too heartbreaking.

Me too. I couldn't work at an animal shelter either. These poor babies that no one wants, I would want to take them all so they would have a forever home but I know I couldn't.

check cashing stores-i could'nt live with myself charging people outragous amounts of money just to cash a check (i'de be telling them to go to the bank it was drawn against).

h&r block (and the like)-don't like their "get your refund now" programs that are just loans with huge fees and interest.

worked "inside" (government) for medi cal (california's version of medicare)-enjoyed helping people navigate they system and get the information/services they were due. could NOT work for private insurance company where someone is eligible for a service/treatment and it is routinly denied for "cost effectiveness".

i think walmart gets alot of bad press-there are lots of people who like working there because being open 24/7 there is a lot of availablity for alternate work scheduals. some people want to be permanant part time. we have employees at our local who have been with them for YEARS and would'nt go to work in any other retailer. now "sears" has a reputation for being terrible-they entice with a promise of "not a job but a career" and some have worked and produced as top salesmen for years only to get a bogus termination or lose a job to downsizing just before they are eligible to draw retirement. would never work for them.

I don't think I have a "never" list. There are some I'd try anything to avoid, but if it came down to either working there or not feeding my family, well, I guess I'd be working there.

A *bad* nursing home--been there, done that; it was horrible

Tobacco industry

Almost any company that makes commercial pet food. After seeing what's put in them, I think I'd get canned for making a scene on a daily basis. :crazy2:
