What characteristics make a good husband?

Silence, handiness and obedience.

For me it was kindness, gentleness, thoughtfulness, a good sense of humor, loyalty, truthful, hard working and loving.

What do you think makes a good husband? What do you expect from him?

One that drops his socks on the floor instead of the hamper thats 2' away?
One that walks right past the "item" on the steps that is waiting to go upstairs?
One that uses the last bit of toilet paper and does not replace it?
Or maybe One that eats the last cookies and leaves an empty box in the pantry?

But perhaps..........he is also the
One that holds you tight when things are tough.
Sits thru hours of chemo, holding your hand.
Supported You thru years of treatment to Give you the child you dreamed of having! A Boy!!
Helped you get thru losing your baby girl and then your mom!
Looks at you with LOVE despite the changes that cancer brings.....
Loves you and your child without question and endlessly....
Provides a home, support, love and family!
Can glance at you and after almost 25 years married, still gives you butterflies..............
Thats my amazing husband..................
Not sure if there's more out there, but I hope theres another for my little sister!

Sounds like you have the man of your dreams.

If you would have asked me at 23 when I married my hubby, I didn't really know what I was looking for, all I knew was a good man. I wanted honesty, maturity , loved kids , responsible , good sense of humor . I could tell you what I wanted , but didn't really know how important those things were, plus a few more. I think sometimes that comes with maturity.

I had no clue who I was marrying in 1996 even after dating for two years. We are hitting 14 years now and I realize more than ever now how AMAZING he is despite the face he can't pick up his underwear .

These are the things I love in a man, well my man and I encourage all who are looking to think about this .

He is funny, loving , compassionate , puts up with my crazy parents . Puts up with my hormonal pre menopausal mood swings . Is the SMARTEST man I have ever met, can rebuild a car engine and possibly do brain surgery all in the same day. Loves ( well tolerates ) my insane friends and will babysit DS7's ADHD best friend because he knows sometimes us mommies need a night out to go to the movies without the kids. He takes me dancing even though he can't catch a beat to save his life and even offered to go shopping with me yesterday because he knew I hate to drive in the rain, but need a dress for this weekend.

He hasn't left my side during recovery of my last few surgeries because he knows I only want him around . AND best of all he has learned to love Disney just as much as I do.

I couldn't have picked a better man and I wake up every day and thank God for him . I could go on and on LOL.


Of course there are things that drive me crazy and I know that I drive him INSANE, but in the end I wouldn't change a thing. We have grown together and what a ride it has been. Can't wait to see what the next 50 years bring.

I would settle for one that could cook well and clean. If you had asked me that at age 20, those qualities would not have been on my list!

AND be able to fix things and I do not mean with spit and duct tape. Really fix them like if a faucet needs a washer he would know how to put one in and not screw it up so badly it cost 200.00 for a plumber. Also, he would have a good fashion sense and know that when you have a paunch you do not wear a clingy shirt or YES you do shave on a SATURDAY when you aer going out shopping with your wife and she has the type of job that might cause you to run into many of her firends and clients...in essence, he should be neat, thin and mechanically inclined.

Oh and also he should know that once you are over 30 cracking obnoxious jokes is not cute or funny anymore.

Finally he should notice when you have on a new outfit and compliement you on it.

Bingo! That's what first attracted me to my husband. He's brilliant beyond words. Add in kind, loving, compassionate, FUNNY and you've got the perfect husband. That's my hubby.

Sorry for the gush. He's been extra sweet to me today and I was feeling the love.

The best part of mine is that he is 100% good-hearted, trustworthy and kind. And the fact that he willingly goes along with my Disney obsession is a big plus, too.

Someone who loves you for you and nothing else and who is there for you. It helps if you have the same ideals, but even those can be worked out. You do need someone who is on the same path as you. (In regards to sex drive, the wanting of children, the amount of time working vs. playing, etc.)

This says it perfectly for me. I will add, someone you can respect. I love DH for who he is. And for the fact that I know, deep in my heart, that no matter what, he loves me.
