The child care facility isn't specific to the BCVs, your right, it's the sandcastle club(?) serving BC, YC, and BCVs. Is there still a child care facility at the BWV or was it closed? I think the Poly has one, GF, and WL has one. Does OKW have any child care like these facilities?

I think the play areas at all DVC resorts could be improved with more interesting and elaborate play equipment. BCV needs it's own child play area, and the one at Vero could be better. But those discussions area probably for other threads.

I too think the children's area at OKW is very nice. I also like the nice little simple playsets at each of the neighborhood pools. I also ws not aware of a child care area. I do know that OKW used to have a list of independant sitters, but not sure they still have that or not.

I would like to see the walkway to DTD improved and with better lighting etc. It looks like the glof cart trail that it is, and I would like to see it improved to be a real walkway.

Notice in the other resort improvement threads how easy it is to talk about potiential improvements for each of the DVC resorts? No need to get too defensive, it's OK to dream and say "what if".

This is an unofficial discussion forum. Suggestions are not binding to DVC, we're just kicking around ideas. I own at BWV but stay once per year at OKW and once at BWV. There might be something I suggest that OKW members would agree with. I'm not telling DVC to do it, just passing along my ideas. Maybe an OKW member who has stayed at BWV has a great idea to improve BWV. I'm not telling them to keep their mouths shut, I'd like to hear what they think, maybe it's a good idea to help everyone who stays at BWV.

I would like screen doors on the porch/balcony doors. Agreed. There shouldn't be a tabue about talking about resort improvements at OKW or any of the DVC resorts, what's the big deal? Lots of suggestions have been made in the other resort improvement threads, without owners getting overly defensive, I'm glad resort improvement threads were started. Debbie, you make some good points above, no need to try to limit participation.

Dues??? I am not talking about dues! I am talking about being concerned that ALL DVC resorts are at the highest value they could possibly be at. Since all the DVC resorts are all grouped together the value of one resort effects all the resorts. Any enhancements that Disney makes to any of the resorts effects the value of the worth of DVC as a whole. Espcecially if the whole ball of wax that is now DVC is sold off to another timeshare company!!!!

I would love to see the Bike and Boat plan at OKW like they have at VWL!! WE spend way to much money now that my oldest can go on the water mice!! We are looking forward to our April vacation to get the Bike and Boat plan at VWL....would love to see it added to OKW for our 2 week summer trip!!! Am I dreaming?? LOL.

And please..............don't get rid of the DJ!!! (I know this will cause a debate!! LOL)..........my girls really enjoy it!!

Yes, yes, yes! I would love to see an old fashioned ice cream parlor added to OKW. Previously my number 1 addition would have been a pool slide. It looks like that dream is coming true. Maybe the ice cream parlor will be soon to folllow?

If I thought this type of post would cause such controversy, I would'nt have posted it. I was trying to get the members of DVC to comment on what improvements could be made to make the experience more desirable (if it is'nt already). I guess I was looking for a "wish list".

I love the idea of an ice cream parlor. We always skip dessert at Olivia's and go for Mickey Head bars anyhow... In general, more grocery/meal offerings for sale would be great. Saratoga is supposed to have some "grab and go" meals that you can heat in your villa, and I thought that sounded nice. I don't want to cook while on vacation, but meals "to go" sounds like a nice option.

Regarding the children's area: I would like to see some sort or fountain or area to cool off other than going into the pool. That area is very HOT and kids tire of it quickly.

Regarding a slide I don't care that much. I don't think a slide like the one at SAB or BWV will happen because of the significantly lower points at OKW. It wouldn't be fair. I think a little more "theming" at the pool with a TASTEFUL slide would be nice.

The family boat plan would be wonderful. To be honest though, we would probably go to Bay Lake/Seven SEas Lagoon if we were going to pay for the plan.

Regardless, I like OKW a lot and would probably choose to get more points there if I buy more points.

How about one of those squirt gun water forts. We have one here in a local park with water filling stations for kids to fill up their squirt guns and fort walls and bridges and towers to hide behind and play on while squirting each other. They have a ball, it's a nice design. Pretty inexpensive too. Just an idea.

A laser tag area with equipment? Paintball for different age groups? These could apply to any disney resort, maybe WLV might be the most appropriate.

A squirting fountain area sounds nice.

As Chuck S said a little ice cream parlor would be nice. I alos mis Donald's Dairy Dip. The ice cream there was great. Now there isn't any place to get ce cream in the evening that doesn't require a trip! Although the Brownie Sundae at Olivia's is one of my favorites and the ice cream parlor on Main Street in MK is great I can't get there for a quick treat in the evening. Donald's was just right.
Yes elevators would be lovely but I guess I'll keep asking for a 1st floor room for the rest of my membership because my legs aren't getting any younger and the steps present more and more of a challenge.
I seem to plan my trips at least partly around when and where I can get ice cream and sweet tea.

Well I do not currently own, but plan to in the near future (as soon as I find a great resale). But after staying there once, I have a few items I would love to see added. Like a hammock on the balcony, an ice cream/hot food-to-go stand would be lovely, screen doors were a great idea, elevators would be helpful as mentioned before, a tv in the bathroom with the spa (it's kind of hard to watch tv from the current position), and one more boat going to DTD. However I love it as is and can't wait to be a proud owner.

Here's my list but not necessarily complete or in order of importance.

1) More parking at the Hospitality House for easier access to the main pool.

2) A foot bridge over the waterway adjacent to Penninsular Road, placed across from building 28 to the tennis court area. Again to provide easier access to the main pool. An additional benefit from this improvement would be reducing the number of autos resort guests take to the Hospitality House to access the feature pool.

3) More deck space, lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas at each pool.

4) Sidewalks. What's with sidewalks that end at shrubbery? We should never have to walk behind parked autos. This really annoys me and we don't even have children to keep track of. The only time a pedestrian should mix with traffic is if they have to cross one of the main roads.

5) Screened in balconies not just a screen door.

6) More Grand Villas.

7) Lighting the walkway to Downtown would be nice. For that matter improve the walkway by making it wider and resurfacing it.

8) Cabanas...I'd like an area with private cabanas near a pool with, chairs and table, phone, small refrigerator and other conveniences. I often find it difficult to find a satisfactory location at the pool. This cabana would be reserved only for the guest who owns it. How would one own it? Cabana points of course. I absolutely would buy a number of cabana points equal to the number of OKW points we own. Cabanas like villas would be booked based on availability. It would take the same number of cabana points to reserve a cabana as it takes to reserve a villa. A studio cabana, weekday, dream season...10 points (acommodates 4). A Grand Villa cabana weekend, magic season...123 points (acommodates 12). Purchase price per point, maybe $6.30 (7.5% of the current OKW point price for points purchased direct from Disney). Dues 28 cents per point (7.5% of the current OKW dues). Where do I sign?
