What candy do you buy in Epcot Countries?

I saw that someone posted about the Rice Candy in Japan and that it was only 99 cents for a box of 6. This sounded like a cool idea to get for my daughters classmates. She's in a 3 year old class at daycare with about 18 of them. Are any of the other candies mentioned good/unique and not too expensive to get to pass out to the class? How much are the Haribo gummies in Germany? TIA!

Does anyone know if Orkney Fudge is sold in the UK? My dad's family is in Scotland, and my aunt (his sister) used to bring Orkney fudge with her for my mom whenever she visited, and I would love to pick some up for her on my Nov 08 visit if it's available. The stuff is DELICIOUS!

I do love Cadbury chocolate and the real Smarties as well, we have a store here in town that sells that kind of stuff, and imported stuff from Scotland and England, but alas, no Orkney fudge.

Milka in Germany. We get tons of these for souveirs when we're in Austria...reminds us of our trips there! They don't have the same variety, but it does the job!
Chocolate in Italy was really good too.
For our trip in Nov., we decided to buy chocolate in each country and didn't eat it until we got home. One night every weekend we rented a Disney movie or watched one of our own and ate a chocolate bar from Disney. I even saved the wrappers and made a "Chocolate around the World" scrap page. Cheesie...but we had a good time with it. It reminded us of how much fun we had!

I was at Epcot in the beginning of December. Last December we did "Drinking Around the World"... this year we did "Chocolate Around the World." YUMMY
At every country I bought a whole bunch of the single pieces to try all kinds of stuff. The people at every country were very helpful telling me about the differnet kinds of Chocolates, what is most popular in their native country, how it is made, etc. It was very interesting to hear how some countries put no preservatives (Italy for one) in their chocolate and they do not last as long as American chocolates. Some were not "sweet" like we know chocolate to be here in America.
If you do go to the countries try to talk to the people working there about all the different chocolate, it adds and interesting twist to it. We had a great time doing this, and highly recommend it.

I'm with you, Tinkerbellmom!! I LOVE Milka from Germany. I went to italy 2 summers ago, and they had them there too - which made me SO excited. I always make sure to pick up a few bars when I'm at Epcot. The only thing is there are SO many varieties in Europe and only one or too here.. but I can deal with that.

What I REALLY wish that they had at one or more of the European pavillions is their Fanta. I know we have fanta here, but over there it tastes different and in my opinion, a whole lot better!! I miss my european fanta.

Merry Christmas! I got such a great idea for a CHristmas gift from this thread. In every country I bought chocolate, I bought another for my Dad. Then I got a map of Epcot, bought some neon stickers, and matched every candy I bought with the country (For example, pink sticker on candy bar from UK, pink sticker on Epcot map at UK). Today I gave him-8 candy bars and a map with 8 stickers. Someone else might like to use this idea.

I think that it's because they use sugar instead of corn syrup. I know that Brazil does and their Fanta (actually all the soft drinks that we have in the US too...like Coke) taste much better. Plus they have more flavors than just ornage

Unfortunately, I believe that those can't be sold in the US. It is against the law to sell any food with a non-food substance inside. I don't remember the exact wording, but it was a big issue several years ago.

I'm addicted to the German Kinder Eggs and have done a lot of research about them. They do not sell them at WDW or anywhere else in the US. If you find them somewhere, they are being sold illegaly! This is because the FDA states that no food items can have none food items embedded in them. They are very popular in many other places all over the world. They are also made in Canada and a few other places but, the toys from Germany are generally better quality.

The new Bioterriosm Trade act says that no food item not approved by the FDA can not come into the US (or something like that). Anyway, you can get them when you are in a country that sells them or if you know someone in one of those countries you can take a chance at having them ship some to you. I have friend in Germany that sends me some every year before Easter and I usually make them last all year!

I wish we could get them in the US or that Disney could get some sort-of special permission to carry them. But, I imagine that there is too much risk of someone choking.

Now I can't wait to try some of these other treats next week while we are in WDW!!!!!

If you are interested in just the toys from the Kinder Eggs you can buy them on Ebay! I have a couple hundred in my office and get comments daily on all my trinkets!

I agree! While I LOVE this thread, you people have just cost me dozens of more dollars on my next trip! (and maybe much more than that if I get addicted to one or more of the candies which I now HAVE to sample)

The varieties are amazing!! Hazelnuss is my favorite!! And the sizes!! Did you see the really huge one! My Dad loves getting these.
I never had the Fanta there, but my son had it and Loved it. "Alm duddler" was a hit too. It's like ginger ale. I always look to see if they've added any of these when we go to Epcot.
Most of the food in Europe is a little better, no preservatives...
