What can you tell me about Vero Beach?

We are thinking we may skip WDW next year and take a Vero vacation in the summer instead. I will be looking to get mid-August reservations, what are the chances of getting something at the 7 month window?

Also, besides the ocean, what is there to do? Is there 18 holes of golf nearby? (DH) Also, Dh is concerned the kids will get bored...HELLO??? We are talking a DISNEY RESORT. DUH! But to make him feel better, I wanted to post here to get some feedback. TIA!

There's plenty to do. There are activities all day long for kids and adults alike. If you like baseball you can catch a dodger's minor league team in Vero. The resort has a 9 hole mini golf course. You can rent bikes, play tennis. THe pool area is nice and so is the beach. You can always just releax. That's what we do.
