What can you tell me about the Biergarten?

OUt of all our trips to WDW we went here on our last trip. We were a group of 7 so we didn't realize that tables were shared. I actually didn't pay attention to the table size. We are going again next month and I guess we will be sharing a table since it's only the 2 of us!! Kind of like the eating at habatchi Japanese!! My husband loved the food!! He wants to eat lunch there 2 time's-he probably won't after he realizes that there is table share. Lunch is a great deal for us only 16 (tables in wonderland card) You almost can't eat at CS for that amount and all you can eat, too! The food is very good. The entertainment fun too.

We loved the Biergarten when we went this past November. We had 2 small children (an 11mo and a 4 year old) and we were seated with this lovely family with 2 younger daughters. Our family sat on one side of the table and their family sat on the other side of the table. We had a great time and actually went down on the floor and danced with the kids while the band was playing. The food we were actually surprised to find that our boys LOVED. They both loved the food and ate until they were very fully. I would really recommend it to anyone that wants a fun experience.

We went in 2007 and had a party of 7 so no issue with sharing the table. The food was just okay. My picky kids didn't really care for it. The entertainment was fun, but I doubt we'll be back. I guess the food just wasn't impressive enough for us.

Strategies for dealing with tablemates at Biergarten (and I count myself as an introvert):

smile and nod when they join you or when you join the table; say hello--even if you're not going to chat, you can be civil! You're at WDW, be happy.
don't be pushy about making conversation if after first attempt they're not interested, but don't take offense and don't be cold. Smiles work wonders.
have your kid say hi to their kid (this works wonders if the kids start talking)
ask where they're from
ask what they've particularly enjoyed today at Epcot
if they're already eating, ask them how the food was or if there was an item they'd particularly recommend

Sometimes people feel socially awkward sharing tables. If they want to be left alone, leave them alone (politely, don't take offense), or if you want to be left alone, you can be polite about it (short answers to questions, nodding rather than talking). You can always retreat to the buffet. Even if you don't want to talk, or haven't talked, you can say "enjoy the rest of your stay" when they or when you leave.

If someone is offended that a tablemate has ordered beer, that's their problem. It's a Biergarten! Prosit!

the food is pretty good. I liked the sauerbraten at dinner. The entertainment is fun for certain. Overall, I would give it a B

I wonder how many people have walked out of the restaurant after seeing how it was set up was. I wonder if they sat down next to rude people and asked to be moved! :rotfl:

I was excited about this restaurant but I am having reservations about it. I don't mind sitting with people, but I do not want to sit across from them. We are a family of four so I would rather sit across from each other. Can you request to be the first family at your table??

I didn't even realize until reading this thread that you could be seated with others. We had 7 in Sept and I really didn't pay attention to the table size of others. We will be 2 next month and my husband, although he loved the food and it was his idea to eat there, may not want to now. He doesn't like to be seated with others.

I would say the majority of the time you will see families and couples sitting across from each other, not all four in a line on one side of the table. If you were taken to a table where you had to sit next to each other instead of across, you could wait to ask for the next available table.

Catne’s story about her table mates is funny as heck. :lmao:

We loved the Biergarten in 2/08. The food and atmosphere were great, and we had lovely table mates whom my husband actually talked to. That part was funny to me because DH isn’t the most social guy in the world, but he got along well with the other party at our table. They were an adult group who were driving back to Michigan after Illuminations that night. I still can’t get over how friendly my husband was with them. :)

The best part of a meal there IMO is the dessert—apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Yummy! Really liked the pretzel bread and soup too.

It’s definitely worth a try.

I took DH to Octoberfest in Germany for his 40th Birthday a couple years ago. He considers himself a "Beer Connoisseur", I call him a beer snob!:rotfl:

Anyway, at Octoberfest you really are sharing big tables with tons of people from all over the world and since everyone is so "happy" whether beer induced or not, it was very easy to talk to the people you are with.

I can see if you are with unfriendly or rude people or would be pretty miserable, especially if they are making you feel uncomfortable about having beer. Isn't that what a beer garden is for???

I can't wait to go! We are definately going to eat here next time. It will bring back happy memoires and sounds like a lot of fun!!

We ate there in 2007 and really enjoyed it. My husband really enjoyed the food. I thought it was good but nothing spectacular but there was a great variety. I did like the very large beers you get. And I thought the restaurant was really very pretty and the entertainment was great.

We also had the best service of our trip. I believe our servers name was Michael and he was outstanding.

We did not have tablemates. Perhaps it was our 16month old DD that scared people away or perhaps it was our early dinner reservation.
