Hey all,
Frontier has just started flying out of Mpls and I saw an incredible fare for them yesterday to LAX (it's gone now, but for future info.)

Any feedback on them? I know nothing about this airline--hadn't even heard of them before they popped up on Orbitz well below everyone else.

(The great thing was that while I missed their fare while MIL was checking when she could watch my kids, Sun Country must have gotten the lower the fares bug and I actually booked with them for about $10 less!)

So, what is the word on Frontier?

Pretty decent airline. Lately they seem to be adopting the JetBlue model. All flights are one class, but you can reserve seats. No full meal service, just pretzels and drinks. The seat pitch is decently comfortable, and the FA's are friendly and efficient but not overly chatty. They run some good fare specials, but they are not as consistently discounted as SWA or JetBlue.
(They are usually the cheapest on the Denver route for me, though, which is why I'm on their planes pretty often.)

Frontier does have seatback TV, but you have to pay for it. On the routes we fly, the charge is $5 for the flight. You can either swipe a CC to pay, or pay the FA in cash and they will swipe a card to activate it. It comes with loaner headphones; they don't charge extra for those. This is a full range of satellite channels, including Cartoon network for the kids.

Thanks, NotUrsula!

That is basically the kind of summary I was looking for. We don't have SWA or JetBlue here. It's good to see more competition for NWA in addition to Sun Country. Is Frontier considered a regular airline as opposed to Sun Country which is more of a charter?

Frontier is a regular airline,in fact they are the second largest carrier out of Denver, where we live. I try to fly them whenever possible, they are efficient and friendly, with good customer service. The Direct TV service is not available on all flights but where it is, it is a bargain for long flights. Hope this helps!

Frontier is a "real" airline, though it is usually considered a discount carrier like SWA or JetBlue, on account of it doesn't offer Business or First class, and it does not fly internationally.

You can sign up to get notified of their specials via email; go to FlyFrontier.com

But, I have reservation with them. Currently I am a little Miffed. We were booked on a flight that had a 2 hr. layover in Denver, and both directions we had directTV. But now we have a 4.5 hour layover in Denver and they've changed the plane to NO TV on the way down. I accidently found the time change a few months ago, and they only notified me of it last week. This will be the first time for our family. I hope everything else goes well.

I fly Frontier a lot out of Denver. They are almost always on schedule and the FAs are friendly and seem to like the passengers.

They also have a frequent flyer program that only requires 15,000 miles for a free ticket.

By the way, I've had wrap sandwiches on flights to Wash. DC and a small snack (summer sausage, crackers, cheese, and a rice krispie treat).

The TV is available on Airbus flights. If you are one of their two higher level frequent flyers, the TV is free (instead of the normal $5).
