DH's employer does not offer group medical or dental insurance. One of the guys in the shop told him about this plan.
I have dental coverage for DD and I through my employer and pay about the same amount. I was going to add DH to my health and dental insurance, but I missed the enrollment period and must wait until next July to do so.
Is anyone familiar with Avia Dental Plan, currently available to residents of TX, CA, NY, PA, OH, NJ, DC, WV, VA, MD, GA & FL? It's not insurance, but a discounted fee for service plan. It costs about $100 per year for a single person and includes a dental and vision coverage plus a prescription plan.
As DH is in desperate need of seeking dental care to have his teeth repaired (removed and replaced) and there is only one participating dentist in the area that is currently accepting this plan, I'd like some feedback from others who may be familiar with Avia before deciding to enroll. The fees for services are reasonable, about 1/2 of the national average, according to their information, for preventative dentistry and there is a minimum one year contract before option to cancel.
