What can you do with a $1?

I am not trying to knock your idea, but if you count your cooking gas/electric you can't cook much for your $1.

I can mail two letters for less than a $1...that makes two people happy and I can stay in touch with two friends. Sometimes you need to send more than an email, and the art of letter writing is dying.

lol I had to laugh because I thought it won't be $1 if you could the cost of the paper, ink, and envelope just like the gas to cook. :thumbsup2

I can buy a faux fur name brand coat at goodwill put it on craigs list an sell it for 150.00

I can buy my gsons an outfit at yard sale both of them wear it while it fits then put it in my own yard sale for 3.00 an sell it for 3.00

(and how can I come up with a school ID for homeschooling in a state that doesn't make you become a charter school?)

We made our own homeschool IDs every year. Just go into Microsoft Word (or whatever you use) and make a business card-size ID with a photo of your kid and the "name" of your school and the year. Print, cut and laminate. Simple.

You can buy those light up necklaces and bracelets at the Dollar Store to give kids while watching the parade at WDW.

I LOVE this one! We hadn't thought of this, and last July at Illuminations, some cute little girl came over and shared with my DD3. My DD made a friend and played with her and it made all of us smile. Truly SMILE. I can't wait to repay that this year and let my daughter give some out to some little kids. :thumbsup2

With that $1 that I saved, I could go to Rite Aid and purchase - 6 Nivea Body Wash for men, 1 Colgate Toothpaste, 2 Reach toothbrushes, 2 boxes of Comtrex cold/sinus medicine, and a 12pk. of Rolaids soft chews.

Well, actually it was only .73 and I got back $11 in Up rewards.

People actually say the same thing about coins that I pick up off the ground. Well, in 6 months of picking up change that people dropped, I was able to pay for DD to have 2 days of the dining plan at Disney. Totally worth the few calories it took me to bend over and pick them up!

I can use it to buy looseleaf paper so I don't have to rip pages out of a spiral notebook.:thumbsup2

See to my mind it's not the single dollar I save but the composite of all those dollars that matter.
Ditto this. Just last night I had the cashier at CVS re-ring my purchases because one 50-cent coupon didn't come off. To me that 50 cents is worth the few minutes I had to wait for her to re-ring me. (Probably annoyed her, but oh well!)

I can take dd to the dollar store for a treat when she has earned it.

I can buy a cute $1 stamp at JoAnn's or Michaels, for scrapbooking & crafting.

I can take dd to the local pool for an afternoon.

Right now I can get lots of different school / office supplies: 10 spiral notebooks, or 2 packs of pens, or 4 packs of crayons, for example.

I could save it and add it to others. I saved up all my rebates and grocery savings for 2 1/2 years (most ranged from $1 to $10). It was quite a bit of effort, but it paid off - I managed to save up over $900 and we used it to go to Discovery Cove on our last WDW trip! Well worth it!

At K-mart, the looseleaf is on sale for 50 cents this week, so you can buy two packages of it, even!

I can work some origami magic on that dollar amd make it into a ring, or 1/2 of a squid!

I can get about 1/2 an hour of peace and quiet to get some stuff done around the house by giving it to the kids to walk to the corner store and get freezies/candies. :worship:

$1 will buy a 12 pack of glow sticks at the dollar store for our upcoming Disney trip!

$1 will buy a hand-held fan w/batteries at the dollar store for our upcoming Disney trip!

$1 will buy a package of Princess silly-bands at the dollar store for my DD16 to hand out to little princesses on our upcoming Disney trip!

$1 bought a jumbo fabric book cover at Ocean State Job Lots (for AFTER our upcoming Disney trip!).

Geee... I'm catching a theme here... Only 21 days left before our UPCOMING DISNEY TRIP!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

WOW. What can you do for $1....

Well, I could walk to the store and get an apple or two?

Or I could save it and put it towards something at Disney! :goodvibes The $1 alone won't do much, but I could add it to $78 and get a 1 day park pass! (before August 1, that is :lmao:)

OR, as the TV commercial just reminded me, there's always the $1 menu at Mickey D's... or a giant sized cup of Newmans Own coffee!

I bought 4 new bathing suits for $1 each at a QVC FFANY shoes on sale day last Oct. along with a $1 shirt and a $1 hat/socks/bag set. I also got $1 XMas cookie dough at the food store and made them all the way up until Easter. Can't beat that! I can do a lot with $1. And each $1 you save adds up to a nice chunk of change.

I do this too, but I put our change into the kid's bank accounts. I started each account with $25. In two years, my DD and DS each have over $100--all change we found/gifts from TD bank for summer reading and matching our initial $25.
