I read on another thread that someone thought it was ridiculous to go through great efforts to save $1.00. I'm not sure I agree with that and starting thinking of things I can do with a buck. Here are a few:
I can bake a cake when 6-8 hungry teenage boys show up at the house.
I can drive to work on $1 of gas and more importantly, get back home on a $1 of gas.
I can make a weeks worth of peanut butter sandwiches for my 5 y/o's lunch.
If I find myself out alone, I can treat myself to an ice cream.
I can bake two loaves of bread for about a $1
I can feed my family eggs and toast for breakfast (or dinner) for $1.
What can you do with a $1.00?

Add that to the lava lamp for 50 cents and the 1950's catcher's mitt a seller gave my son for free and we had a productive outing. And I still have a quarter for next time!
So instead of waiting 3 years to go again, we only had to wait 1 year!
