Hi,
We are very new members - joined yesterday! We are going to be taking my parents to our new "home" in September, and will be there for my dad's birthday. Will the DVC resort do anything special for my dad? If so, what is the best way to make them aware of his birthday? If they don't do anything special, can anyone recommend something we could do for him to make his day? Thanks!

We'll be in WDW on my MIL's b-day this May.

She said she wanted to eat with the characters so we've got an ADR for dinner at LTT on her b-day, for our party of 8.

She doesn't know it but I'm going to order a cake from the Main Street Bakery & have it delivered to LTT. She'll be so surprised when our server brings out the cake!!

I hope you guys have a great trip!!

Thousands of people celebrate birthdays and anniversaries at Disney each week, but Disney does do a few things. You can get a birthday button at guest services at any park - depending on their moods, you'll get "Happy Birtday" greetings from some CMs that notice the button. If you make an ADR and note that it is a birthday, you get a yellow cupcake with Mickey sprinkles. Sometimes the resort will offer to send a helium balloon to the room with a card "signed" by whichever character a child likes best - but this has only happened one time for us.

The best plan is to go ahead and do something special on your own - order a cake and have it delivered to your dinner restaurant, or book a special event - like a fireworks cruise or lunch with an imagineer.

If you can get him to wear a B-Day button that would work.

Also let any ADRs that day you have put it on the ressie. It might get a few free deserts but nothing is ever set in stone just depends on the CM at the time.

Last year we were there for my dh birthday (using his sign-in now). I got him one of those buttons and he loved it. Even CM's in the parade pointed to him. I also told the front desk and they delivered balloons with a card signed from Mickey. Also at the front desk I ordered a cake from the hotel bakery. They delivered it to the room during breakfast and brought a white table cloth and china dishes to serve it on. That morning we did the mickey tour at the magic kingdom and he loved it! Then he got his haircut at the barber on mainstreet at mk (I think they even put a few mickey sprinkles in). He won't admit it, but I know he loved all the attention that he got. Where else can you go and feel 10 again!!

We did a birthday celebration on a fireworks cruise. Call WDW and ask about it. They supply the drinks, cake, boat and captain. We had 8 in our boat. It really was fun.
