What can my 6 month old actually do?

Hi all,

We've been to Disney once before and loved the rides, parade and the range of different restaurants (although the exchange rate was a bit friendlier then!). Anyway, nearly 7yrs later we're off again for a big family outing in June and are taking our 6 month old.

Any advice is welcome but we're struggling to find out what can be done with the little boy in tow (ie not baby-switching or similar). The playhouse show seems suitable but can anyone advise of other rides or events which are either stand/sit or you can ride with baby in arms (small world?)

Thanks in advance.

We went with our youngest DD when she was about 15 months. She went on small world, snow white, buzz, riverboat, carousel (I rode on the horse with her but they wouldn't let me do that last time so their policy may have changed) and probably a few others too.

Thanks so much jothp! Did they just let you hold her? No belts or similar?

My daughter was 8 months when we went in 2008 and she went on most of the rides In Fantasyland, we also did all of the theatre shows including Honey I Shrunk The Audience but they did warn me that they didn't think it was suitable as it was quite loud - she was fine and played with a pair of headphones most of the show!

Thanks all for your very helpful responses. We have 4 days in the parks so hopefully taking things leisurely and with plenty of baby-breaks will help. I think I'll email disney for the 'official position' on which rides but some (like It's a Small World) seem to be pretty open to babies - not too sure on the Studios park though!

Hopefully I'll post some experiences on here afterwards which will help future travellers!

please do i would love to know how you get on with a 6 month old

I saw Parents stood on the carousel holding babies on the horses (though there were carriages to sit in as well which would no doubt be easier!), no complaints from staff, but this was EMH and there was plenty of room.

They might have an issue with people being stood up when it's packed (if only as I know it would annoy me to queue for ages then have to ride with someone stood jammed between me and the next horse, so it would cause complaints).
