I am new to this, so please forgive.
I notice many posts about rate watches, etc.
What kind of discounts can one expect (or have had inthe past)?
We are interested in economy accomodations (Pop/All Stars) for 4 nights at the end of January. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks so much

Hmmm, that's kinda a loaded question. As of right now, we're all waiting on some possible package codes that may be released Nov 3rd. There might also be "room-only" discount codes released that same day or the day after. With both, you request the "code" rate when you call and make reservations.
The rack rate for All Stars or Pop for that time is around $80 a night. So you should decide if you want a package (room w/ tickets, or tickets and dining) so you know what to book when the specials are released. It's hard to say exactly what the specials will be, but it should be a discount on the room and a discount on the tickets. If a room-only code comes out, it will probably be a smaller discount on the nightly rate. This is all speculation, but that's pretty much what the case has been in the past, although anything could change!
If you haven't already, check out mousesavers.com. There's a lot of good planning info there.

Good luck!

thanks!
You all are the experts so help me out... :)
We are thinking of getting mulitday, multipark, no expiration passes (8,9 10 days) even thought on this trip we will only do the parls 2 or 3 days (My parents have a house near Tampa so we are "in the area" a few times a year--mu daughter is 6 so I KNOW that we will want to return--and we doubt Disney won't be there in the near future!) ::MinnieMo
So, what would you do??
We are limited on budget (due to the fact we out mega bucks on the passes, but figure that will save in the future).
So, help, advice, suggestions (is our game plan reasonable?)
thanks! :sunny:

Well the word on the street is that this new offer will give you "free" upgrades to base tickets by adding the hopper option (multi parks in one day) and the "plus" option (water parks, etc). So all you would would pay for would be 8.9, or 10 day "base" tickets and add the non-expiration option, and you'd have 8,9, or 10 day park hopper tickets with water parks, Disney Quest etc that don't expire. You can check prices online (try ticketmania.com) to get an idea of how much each would cost.

So say you decide on 10 day park hopper "plus" no expiration, and assume you get the "hopper" and "plus" options free with a special package deal, an adult tickets would be about $305 each and child $265. And that doesn't include any "package" savings, so I would think they would be even less as part of a package. And its hard to estimate your room savings, but I'd say $70 a night would give you a ballpark figure.

Sooo....I'd decide which route you want to go with the tickets (by the way, a 10 day is going to be only a few dollars more than an 8 day, so I'd do the 10 day), and decide which resort you'd like to stay at, and keep an eye out here on or around Nov 3. Be prepared to call that day to book, as things go fast. You can always cancel if its 45 days before your arrival day or make changes if you need to.

Hope this helps :)

Since you know you are going back, have you thought about getting at least one of you an AP. I got a BRP price for Jan 2nd-8th for POP for $59.00/night (plus tax). That way at least one of you would have a pass to the parks for the full year, plus the discounts you get for rooms, tours, meals (10%), DTD store, the Basin, mini golf, PI, water parks, DQ, and you can get the DDE card for $50.00 which will then save you 20% off meals.
