What can I do with 26 Holding Pts. New to Renting/Transfer...help needed!

Hello,

I just closed on my contracts...so I have never rented or transferred points. I have 26 BWV holding points that will expire in June and I don't anticipate traveling before then.

Can I transfer the points? Rent? Advice needed. Thanks in advance!

If I were in your position, I'd give it a try on the Rent/Trade board. The easiest thing would be to transfer the points to a fellow member.

Be sure to follow the rules of the board. They are getting pretty strict with their guidelines.

It sounds as though you may have a June Use Year?

"Holding Account" points result from a reservation being cancelled within 30 days of arrival. The points are returned to the account, but may only be used to make a reservation within 60 days of when you contact MS to make a reservation and they do expire at the end of the current Use Year. The June Use Year ends on May 31, 2006.

If the points had previously been banked, they cannot be transferred to another member. They may be used to make a reservation for dates within 60 days. In this case, since it appears that they will expire on May 31, they may be used for any dates from now until that date and that reservation may be rented to someone else.

Yes. You may transfer these points to another member, or Bank them into your own 2006 June UY.

However, these points (weither banked or transferred) will maintain their HOLDING POINT status, and only be valid on reservations 60 days or less in advance of the travel dates.

That may also depend on the CM when you call MS. I realize that some have reported that they were allowed to transfer Holding Account points but, unless DVC has changed the provision (as they have others), according to "Exhibit A" in the POS under "Rules and Regulations"/"Transfers"/#1- it clearly states Banked, Borrowed, or Holding Account Vacation Points may not be Transferred."

... and under Home Resort Rules and Regulations/#13/- 1)- it states: "Holding Account Vacation Points must be used for reservations during their Use Year. Any Holding Account Vacation Points remaining in rhe Holding Account at the end of the Use Year expire."

... and under Home Resort Rules and Regulations/#13/- 2)- it states: "Holding Account Vacation Points cannot be banked or applied to any Exrernal Exchange Program."

It might be wise to confirm this thru MS (and get the name of the CM who advises) before making any plans for Holding Account points other than making a reservation for yourself or others.

I called MS about 2 hours ago regarding transferring of Holding points and was told yes, but they will retain their holding status.

She didnt hesitate to say yes they could be transferred.
