Hello all, I'm terribly excited about our family trip to WDW in September, but I'm most excited about enjoying our first Disney meal at the Biergarten after a two day drive to Florida. Having access to Disney transportation, you can bet I'm gonna enjoy beer or two or five. So, tell me what I can look forward too. None of the menus online give a beer list, but I know the DISers can get me the info I need.

Well my hubbys only request every year is Biergarden and Germany.. We only go to Epcot to drink around the world.. LOL
So I just asked him what they have.. outside is Becks and Spaten Oktoberfest, (we went in May) inside at restaurant they have those plus Spaten Optimator.
now my hubby is even more ready to go! LOL

OMG you just made my week. Back when I was just out of school, my brother and I used to drink Spaten Optimator and loved it. Now 20 years later I had all but almost forgotten about it till now. I almost woke my wife up with my, "Woohoo" :)

Well, let me burst your bubble.(sorry) We were there in September and they had just changed vendors.` No Spaten, no Becks. I didn't get the names, but the dark beer was very good. This is at least the third time they've switched, going back 25 years.

Grrrr, I'm big enough to realize you don't shoot the messenger when it comes to bad news. That being said..... Watch your back DonaldTDuck ;)

Was it Hovels? When I ate there for marathon weekend I got a liter of Hovels and it was great. It is dark but not a porter and while I like the Spaten Oktoberfest I think this beer blew it away.

Yes, around the time of the F&W Fest last year, they switched to beer provided by Radeberger and Altenmunster. I haven't had a chance to try them yet, but I've heard Altenmunster makes a fairly decent dunkel lager.

Considering this is supposed to be an Oktoberfest themed restaurant, it's unfortunate that Disney does not offer any beers from Munich Breweries.

WHAT!! :scared1:
I just told the DH and he is soo bummed! Our last trip was May 2010 so I guess since then it changed! UGH! he is still open minded and willing to try any dunkel or weisse, cross our fingers its good! Only 6weeks to go!!
Ill update when we get there!! :)

Can someone help me...a few years ago, my DBF and I had the pleasure of meeting a couple in Germany pavillion. He was from Germany and she was from Florida. He suggested a mixture of lemon/lime soda (sprite) and another beer. I can't remember what the other beer was or what he told me to order. It wasn't a Shandy. I am a beer drinker and wasn't sure if I would like the mixture, but it was wonderful! He told me that it is a popular drink with the ladies in Germany.

:confused3

I will be back in Epcot Dec 2011 and I want to order another one.

Mixing Sprite with beer ?? Just a guess, but it was probably Fraziskaner, as I'd think a wheat brew would be the only thing to mix with Sprite. I don't think they have Fraziskaner at the pavillion anymore, but they may have another brand or wheat or wiessbeer

EDIT: Just asked a German co-worker ... he said the drink is a Radler. He mentioned you can pretty much mix up lemon/lime soda with any traditional lager like Spaten, Hoffbrau, etc

Definitely sounds like a Radler. I was in Munich last year, and they are very popular. It basically just any Helles Lager mixed with lemonade or a lemonade type drink.

I'm not sad to see Beck's go.

I've always preferred the beer behind door number 3, usually something more authentic German. My wife and I were big fans of the Franziskaner, when that was served. We got it after watching a long line of folks order the 'Americanish' brand of the day. We asked what the keg in the back was and the young lady pouring smiled as if she was saying, the good stuff.
