I need to upgrade my sons to bigger suitcases. I've been looking at the luggage sections in Marshalls, TJMaxx, etc and wondered, other than Samsonite, which my husband and I have, what are some brands of luggage that you have/have NOT had luck with? American Tourister, Chaps, Eddie Bauer, etc.? I'd like to know before I invest the money. Thanks for your input!

I buy whatevers cheapest if its flight luggage because I know its going to get ripped, marks all over, look like it was thrown off a building and zippers screwed up from the conveyors and baggage handlers. Ive had them ruin nice luggage before. Now my nice luggage is for road trips or when I carry it on myself. Walmart cheap stuff is my flight luggage.
I have though about getting the hard case ones since the material ones really take a beating but haven't gotten around to trying that yet.

Although TJMs and Marshalls are among my favorite stores, I buy my luggage at JCPenneys or Macy's. They ALWAYS have sales on luggage and most times, its 50% off or more on very nice sets. You can also get coupons at www.retailmenot.com for additional 10% - 20% both of those stores.

If you re not in a huge rush, wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving through Christmas. You can get a 3 - 5pc set of Samsonite for less than $100.

We use Swiss Army luggage. It has a lifetime warranty. We only use carry ons so I don't need to worry about baggage handlers. The stuff is really durable.

i use the giant pink polka dot suitcase i had to buy on fishermans wharf after delta ripped my luggage on the flight out to SF

We have Swiss Gear ( Swiss Army makes it) from Costco. We got a set 7 pieces for like 150.00cnd. Its really durable and lightweight.

We have four Delsey suitcases. One of them is over 15 years old and still going strong.

I use American Tourister. Bought last year for our Oct trip.

Long story short, the largest of the ensemble came back from Disney World without the pull handle thing, and Luggageonline.com replaced it for me for FREE a YEAR LATER!!!!! :cool1: With no questions asked, I might add.

I posted a thread about this on the budget board recently. I will only by luggage from them from now on, because you really can't beat that kind of customer service! :thumbsup2
