What book do you think would make a great movie?

The Serial Killer's Club by Jeff Povey.

I swear I thought I was the only person who ever read that book!

I'll vote for Neverwhere. Followed by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I know is in the works but I just hope can get off the ground.

My problem with Good Omens is that so much of the comedy is involved in the footnotes, and that would not at all be able to be translated onto the screen.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. But like a previous poster said, I can't think of anyone who could play Jamie, or Claire for that matter.

The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick. I've heard a few whisperings of the BBC making it into a miniseries, so we'll see. However, many people are uncomfortable with the subject matter; it's a dystopian alternate history where Japan and Germany won WWII.

The Giver by Lois Lowry. I recently heard that Jeff Bridges is going to be making this into a movie, which I'm very excited about.

The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. And I mean a proper movie, not that miniseries they did in the 80s.

I always imagine a red-haired Sean Bean as Jamie (although he's a little old for the first few books). Love him- so sexy! Or Kevin McKidd- he is really good, too, in that rugged Scotsman way.

I picture Emma Thompson as the older Claire- not sure who would play Young Claire for the first 2 books.

I don't know if you could do it without some special effects/multiple explosion happy director trying to "improve" it. Is it perhaps too subtle for today's audience?

How about Kinsman by Ben Bova

Oohh just thought of a good one (I think, anyway). The Gaea Trilogy (Titan, Wizard, Demon) by John Varley

Another vote for She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb.

I think I read somewhere that Reese Witherspoon is trying to get this produced as a vehicle for her to star in but I just don't see her as Delores.

Not high fiction or a work of literary genius but I would LOVE to see Steve Alten's "MEG" finally get made.

No. Me either. I could see the, "Ugly Betty" star (can't remember her name) as Delores though.

Yeah, I agree. Someone else though besides Reese. Don't get me wrong I think she is a phenomenal actress, but the way Delores is described having self esteem problems, binge eating problems, emotional issues, etc. and Reese just naturally picks characters without those problems it seems. She picks very spunky self assured women to portray. I guess it could be her attempt to do something against type.

"The House with a Clock in its Walls" by John Bellairs.

It's a kid's suspense book. It would make such a good Hollywood blockbuster summer kids film. If I had the money, I'd fund it myself!!

I'd love to see Jane Lynch as Florence Zimmerman. And Noah Munck as Lewis Barnavelt.

You summed it up well.

America Ferrera.

Thanks!

No, I def don't see her as Delores. It would have to be someone with more grit, drew Barrymore, maybe?

Daniel Silva's Gabrielle Allon series of books would make a good movie or two or three.

The Hunger Games - but I believe that is slotted to be a movie. :yay:

The Promises of Dr.Sigmundus Trilogy (Hollow People, Cracked Mirror & Resurrection Fields) by Brian Keaney. These would make great films!! :happytv:
