What book are you currently reading?

I'm currently about half way through "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck. I love to read just about any kind of book from romance to mystery to history to true crime. And I try to throw in a classic I've never read every once in a while.

By the way......excellant book..I would recommend to anyone

"Crossroads of Twilight" by Robert Jordan

Just finished "Jinn" by Matthew BJ Delaney. Am now reading "Dangerous Fortune" by Ken Follett.
I've got an amazon order of about 5 books for me and 1 for hubby on its way. I hope it gets here soon!

I am reading "the Girl in the Mirror" by Mary Alice Walker. I have read her other books, and like them a lot.

I loved Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons!

Just finished Richard Chamberlin's "Shattered Loves" and just started my new Stuart Woods one..."Capital Crimes" So far so good. I'm ready for a new Robin Cook novel though.

I DETESTED that book in 6th grade!!

I read - Girl with a Pearl Earring on the 13 hour drive home from Maine.

DS asked me to read Island of the Blue Dolphins -- I'm almost done, started it last night.

DH just bought Angels and Demons at the book store. This AM I finished Leaving Cold Sassy, the partial sequel to Cold Sassy Tree (loved that book). Olive Ann Burns only finished about 1/2 the book before she died. I wish they had a ghostwriter complete it. Most of the book is about her and her husband managing their illnesses.

Just finished the Darweth trilogy (Barbara Hambley) again, and rereading Stephen R. Donaldson's The Mirror of Her Dreams . Will either reread my collection of David Eddings books again, or my collection of Rex Stout after that.

Liberated Parents, Liberated Children: Your Guide to a Happier Family by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish

It's about building self-esteem, confidence and responsibility in children. It's excellent and funny! A MUST read for parents and teachers.

Also, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by the same authors.

You detested Ivanhoe! Oh come on - give it another try! I dare ya! LOL. I find it really entertaining and a great history lesson at the same time. I think Walter Scott really paints a picture of the middle ages. :D

By the way, is that your dog in your pic with a bone on his nose? Very cute!

Good In Bed, Jennifer Weiner

It was a good pick for my casual summer reading. I always read light in the summer and read the serious stuff during the long winter months.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!!

It's amazing the diversity of books that everyone's reading. I'm actually happy to see several people still read the classics such as Ivnahoe. Thanks for all of your responses. If you're looking for me, I'll be in my chair reading.

:fish:

I'm reading a poker book called "Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big With Expert Play." OK, it's not a classic. Yet!

Just finished that Ann Rule book......it's pretty good.

I started another book this evening called "Inside the Kingdom/about life in Saudia Arabia" by Carmen Bin Ladin. Is it good? Well the only reason I put it down is to watch BB5.:D

"Demon-Haunted World" by the late great Carl Sagan. It should be required reading for humans.

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I loved Mystic River and so far this one is also very good.

I just finished The Journal of Patrick Seamus Flaherty by Ellen Emerson White (it is part of Dear America's series My Name is America) and Sixteen by Megan McCafferty who I absolultely love!!!

Now I am reading Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman
