Hey everyone! I think that time is upon my family and I again. It looks like we're ready for our next trip to Disneyland. So far, I think the first two weeks in January is looking like the best time for us because of our schedules. So, does anyone here know or have any idea about which rides will be down for refurb during the first two weeks of January? I've checked the refurb page but nothing is listed for those times yet. I'll be keeping a close eye on it, but I just thought I'd check with you guys and see if anyone had any ideas about what is "usually" down during those times. I'd rather have an idea now and be ready for it rather than getting hyped up and then finding out last minute that three of my favorite attractions are down. :guilty:

Thanks for all your help! :wizard:

Haunted Mansion will be down to take off the Holiday overlay. It opens usually by MLK day.

This year it is rumored that both the Matterhorn and Alice in Wonderland will be closed in Jan. for refurb.

They are also closing the Carnation Cafe for expansion.

That's all for now!

Oops, they also close It's a Small World, but that's usually after Haunted Mansion reopens, so it will still be Small World Holiday until mid-Jan.

I wonder why they need to re-refurb the Matterhorn? I think it's down right now for something like two months. :confused3

Do you know about what time in January they shut down the Haunted Mansion to take off the Holiday overlay? Is that around the 1st? 2nd-5th? Because if I'm lucky, I might get to be there a day or two before it closes (hopefully).

What about Splash? I remember I was there one time in January around '02, and then again in Jan around '04, and both times Splash was closed in Jan. :sad2:

They've been doing a major refurb for Matterhorn broken up over periods. They're just finishing the installation of new tracks and it should re-open in a week or so. Next year they'll be adding the new bobsleds, although we're all a little confused because they've been trying them out in the past few days. At any rate, I think they only have one last major closing to finish this refurb project. Then I would expect it to be good for a long time.

Holiday time at Disneyland is officially scheduled to run through January 8 this year. I would, therefore, expect that neither Small World nor HM will go down to have their overlays removed before that date.

I don't know if the Matterhorn refurb is Disney official yet, but it is much rumored and seems very likely. There have reportedly been tests of the new bobsleds during the current closure. I'm guessing the new bobsleds won't debut for guests until after next year's big refurb.

Splash was down this past spring for several months. I'm not sure what the typical maintenance cycle is for that ride but considering that it was closed several months last year, I wouldn't expect the same this year. Of course, even if it's down just a few days for a seasonal refurb, it's a bummer if those happen to coincide with your days.

I just received a reply from Disney today regarding when the holiday overlay will be removed from HM(that's our favorite ride). They confirmed that it will be up through Jan 8. (of course I'm sure that's always subject to change) I'm assuming since it's official holiday season through the 8th, not much should be in refurb before that.

Thanks for the feedback thus far guys! It really doesn't sound too bad. Judging by those times, I'll get to ride Haunted Mansion many times.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that all the E-Tickets will be up and running while I'm there, at least long enough for me to ride them a few times. I can live without one, or even *gulp* two of them, but any more than that and I'll be bummed out big time.

But it sounds like the odds are in my favore.
