What are Yukon potatoes?

I am English too, but I believe they are just a type of potato like King Edwards or Maris Piper.

I'm American although I live in the UK. Yukon Gold Potatoes have a slightly gold tinge and make excellent baked or mashed potatoes. We don't have anything in the UK like them that I know of.

Just like apples there are different type of potatoes with varying characteristics like taste or the type of use that they are suited to. Yukon's are similiar to the normal baking potato (russett) They are slightly yellow and have a "buttery" taste.

If you are asking in reference to the potatos listed in the Whispering Canyon menu, I had them twice less than two weeks ago. They are served mashed with the skins. My 13 year old son found them to be delicious and while I thought the taste was nice, they were very dry for mashed potatos.

The Yukon Gold potato is a very versatile potato -- suitable for most any form of food preparation. It was developed at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 1980.
