What are your thoughts on HH?

It's future.

I was thinking tonight how much I love that place. And a friend who wants to buy DVC for WDW only is thinking of buying a HH contract. So it got me thinking even more.

First and foremost how blasphemous it is to buy at HH and not want to stay there. :rotfl: :lmao: ;)

And second I think if, hmmm I mean when, I get the money together I might buy resale at HH. Love it, great price, still can find loaded contracts. I would love to have a window there in prime months. I don't know why since I've only used a booking window once in three years, and a myriad of trips, at BWV and SSR. :lmao: Whatever. ;)

So what do you all think about the future of that wonderful place and those wonderful magical trees. Okay, daydreaming and rambling. Sounds like I'm on drugs. But HH does that to me.

What do you think about its future? Maintenance? Insurance issues? Disney always keeping it DVC? etc. etc.

My thoughts are the bigger DVC becomes HH might become the absolute charm of DVC. If it isn't already. Yes, I'm a little biased.

Thanks,

Lisa

We love HHI! So much so I wanted more points there for priority booking (although we go there in April so it may not be that big of a deal).

To me, considering how much we love the place it was a no brainer. Add that to the deal we struck (I think it was around $64pp) and we couldn't say no!

I don't know what the future holds for it - but considering the deal we got on it I'm not real concerned. I hope it becomes a "little gem" and that maybe more like it pop up along the east coast (New England would be nice...)

Now that's blasphemous! We'd like to buy a HHI contract, but that's because we do want to stay there. DH prefers HHI to WDW, I'm pretty sure. I also have concerns sometimes about HHI's future only because we always go in the off-season, and last time we were there, one of the CMs told us that it's really a seasonal resort, and sometimes they (whoever the mysterious "they" are) wonder about keeping it open all year round. I'd really hate to see it close down in the winter and I hope the CM was just personnally speculating, nothing serious (I hope, I hope). Come to think of it, it wouldn't make sense for them to sell points at a resort you can't always access-now I feel better! So I'd like to think HHI is always going to be there-I just hope it doesn't get TOO busy because of all us HHI fans singing its praises.

We visited HH this past Easter and I know that DH loved it! We have decided that we will definitely go back. We really had a vacation of relaxation and the weather on the days before Easter were wonderful! I just wish we had the $$ at this time to buy a contract there. We would try to go in the off season also. I might be wrong but I think that the traffic in HH would not be fun during the busier months.

Interesting post-

After staying at HHI on BWV points nearly 10 years ago, DW and I bought enough points to stay 4 summer "weekday nights" in a studio during the summer - or 4 weekday nights every other year in a 1BR.

We liked the place and figured we could stop there during driving trips to WDW from our home in NJ.
- We've never been back since the first trip.

We are now debating whether or not to sell the points in preparation for the Grand Californian DVC which we stayed at and loved, and would like to return to every 3 years or so.

But the post about the smaller HHI resort being one of the few resorts left preserving the original DVC charm made me wonder if we should hold onto these points.

I am a big believer in own where you want to stay, yet we've never stayed at HH with our HH points. I'm going to keep following this thread, and see if it helps me decide what to do with our whopping 52 points. popcorn::

With the recent additions of SSR, AKV, and soon the Kingdom Tower... I would think that the beach resorts are going to become harder to get at any time. I don't see any down side to buying HHI. Except, maybe the years left.

Just bought a small HHI contract and already have addonitis. We don't care about the expiration because we will be too old to know where we are by then!!!:rotfl: We already have two deeded properties to will to the kids; this one is for us! And one of those is on HHI. We love it there too!

We bought HHI last year after staying on cash for 4 days after a Disney vaca. We're heading to WDW in a few weeks, and then to HHI first week of August. Now tell me that's not just perfect!! But the HHI resale, you will not regret it.

Someone posted about being concerned about the future of HHI. My main concern with HHI is with DVC building all of these new resorts and membership growing, it will be harder and harder getting ressies. Now we do own points there, but not enough to stay in a 1BR every year. Also, as we get older, I can see us wanting to visit HHI more than WDW because it is so much closer to where we live. My plan is to augment my HHI points every 2-3 years with my other DVC points but that means 7 month ressies. As DVC grows I think the 7 month ressies will be harder and harder to get. It might end up eventually we have to get a 2BR for just 2 people in really off-months.

DH and I enjoy HHI resort sooooooooo much that we are considering buying a winter home in the area! We are having a tough time deciding whether to buy off-island or travel further south to purchase at The Villages in Lady Lake, FL. We will continue to book into the resort with our SSR points off-season for a few more years while we continue to evaluate our retirement future.

IMO, the dues are likely to rival VB in a few years and be 20% or so higher than the WDW resorts. I'm amazed that it's actually as easy or easier to get a reservation there now for summer at 7 months out than it was 7 or 8 years ago though I don't expect that will cont as the membership grows unless DVC builds resorts at places like MB. It must be all those that own HH as a points cache to use elsewhere plus those that own and do like to go have been there/done that, I can't think of any other explanation.
