What are your Pet Peeves?

We all love Disney but don't necessarily love all the people in the parks. The unwanted advice thread got me thinking about Pet Peeves. What are your Pet Peeves at Disney?

For myself it's the unnecessary screaming. My kids used to love Haunted Mansion until one day we went in and a bunch of teen guys yelled in the intro for no reason. It scared my kids to death and they have refused to go on the ride ever since. I wish people would think about how that would feel for a kid to encounter such screaming

So what drives you nuts??

People (mainly adults) who push in front of your kids so they can get a better view of the parade.

People who scream curse words at a place where there are so many children. My kids don't need to hear that nonsense.

People who glare at you like you're cutting in line or make hateful comments as you breeze by them in the FP line. Hey, YOU'RE the one who chose to wait in the line - I just happened to make a better decision by getting a FP.

Yeah, the screaming gets to me too.

I hate the people who think that because they are on vacation they can let their kids run wild and roughshod over everyone. I know that kids are excited, but they still need to be courteous of the people around them. I've seen too many kids acting like little demons while their parents merrily ignored them.

Dont you just love the look on the people waiting in the regular line as you breeze on by in the fast pass lane? We make sure we look really happy while they look really aggravated!

My biggest pet peeve (and it doesnt just apply to WDW) is when people suddenly stop right in front of me. If Im pushing the stroller and hit them, I dont apologize and if they say anything I give them a piece of my mind! If driving a car, most people wouldnt stop like that-theyd pull off to the side.

I guess that goes hand-in-hand with the people who walk side by side at a SLOOOOOOOOOW pace, but they take up the entire walkway so you couldn't get around 'em if you wanted to!

My biggest pet peeves last year were mostly centered around the buses.
Crowded bus to capacity and it never seemed to fail someone around had to of passed gas, stinking up the place.. TMI I know.
Also when on the buses people would have their small children taking up a seat instead of placing them on their laps so another person could actually sit down, especially like an older person or someone trying to hold a child while careening down the road.

My first pet peeve is what someone else said I hate, hate, hate people who just stop in the middle for no reason. I can't stand that. Just use common sense is what I think.

Second and this happens everywhere..is put a hat or sunglasses or something on your baby or toddler in a stroller that is right under the hot blaring sun. If they are crying it's because the sun is directly in their eyes and they can't see. I see it so much and the parents have their sunglasses on and shading themselves and the baby is directly in sun!! I always look for the stroller that you can switch direction or have a sunscreen on them because I would hate my child to endure that torture!!

I call this the "Disney World Syndrome" when I'm in the real world. It drives me crazy.

I guess my other pet peeve is the unnecessary screaming. I encountered this in the Tower of Terror pre-show. You can tell if someone is screaming for real or just faking when the lights go out.

My personal favorite is the person who runs to the line to put his/her arm out to stop everybody else so the remainder of his/her party of 10 can get in line ahead of you...as if my wife and I were going to put them "behind schedule" by getting there first. Then again, I think it's funny that they need to rush that fast to get in car 24 on Buzz rather than car 26...

I agree with this-and cant stand these people.

Also not just a Disney but allover--the parents who put a blanket over the entire stroller opening so the sun stays off the baby. Well dont they know that by doing that they are just making it hotter in there(basically making it an oven) trapping the stale hot air inside.

I can't stand it when people force their kids onto rides. We watched this happen over and over again-- terrified screaming children saying "no" or "I'm scared." And the parents dragging them onto something yelling about how much money they spent or that they are "ruining the vacation."
We saw this one lady yelling at her kid outside Dinosaur and she said "I'm so mad I want to spit in your face" to a kid that couldn't have been older than 3. It really bothered me. Then in Epcot we saw a man yelling at a kid who was probably 5 or 6 saying "you have ruined this whole vacation for everyone."
I know it is everyone's right to do what they will with their kids but if your kids are tired or afraid or something isn't a good idea to give them a little break.
I think people freak out over how much they spent on the vacation and they go with this rigid agenda and then their 3 or 5 year old or whatever gets tired and they go nuts. It really ruined it for me to go on a ride and listen to a terrified toddler/kid screaming the whole time that they want off.

I totally agree! The Sudden Stoppers drive me crazy as well. If you want to look at the map to get your bearings step aside and let others who know where they want to go get there!

Another pet peeve is the giant group of pre-teens to regular teens (that just happen to be everywhere you are) who have no regard for the people around them. Cursing loudly enough so others can hear, pushing each other, just generally being loud and obnoxious - AHH! The rude teens just drive me insane! I mean, we're all here to have a good time, but keep in mind that you're in a public place with other people and small children around. Use common sense and try to act as if you weren't brought up by an unruly wolf pack.

I have a problem with what we refer to as "OMR's" Oblivious Map Readers! Those walking around, head down, reading a map!! The are clueless that they are about to run into someone or cut them off!!

Next time you are there and you here some one say to their family "Watch out kids, OMR ahead" You know what I'm talking about!!

Yep, that's got to be the biggest one in WDW. We tolerate it for the first few days (my wife is much quicker tempered than I am, I could deal with it all week) but after a few days (by the 20th person whose done it) she starts making comments... and they get louder and louder each time, mostly just sarcasm, not being rude... at least not outright rude. A lot of the time (ya know after 30 when she's getting pretty loud) people hear the comments (like "OH HEY LETS STOP HERE!) and don't make a fuss, but rather realize what they are doing and move to the side. In "the stopping peoples" defense it can be confusing and overwhelming, maybe that's why I'm understanding.

Teenage kids (or anyone) cussing drive me nuts! Look I get it, it's 'cool' and if you need to do it fine, but not at WDW. Someday they'll get it (perhaps when they have kids) but the 2 of the 4 'kids' in front of my family walking on to "figment" were dropping the F word like crazy, and not only using the word but talking about actually doing it... not this is a great $%#ing ride, but rather I was $%#@ing this girl...you get the point. I held my family back for a while to create some separation and it worked, but that was as close as I came to snapping at WDW. My wife and fortunately kids missed it, but when I looked back at my wife I must have had a look in my eye, I'm not the fighting kind but she said I looked like I was ready to beat the tar out of someone.

NOW to be fair I had to apologize myself just this last trip. I may be responsible for one of the loudest obscenities every exclaimed at WDW... luckily there were not many people around, I was right between the Main St. flag and guest relations. My father in law had been beat down by a week in WDW so for that day he had rented a wheel chair (not electric, just a basic wheel chair). My mother in law had been pushing him but when we met up I offered to take over... well I guess I didn't have much experience pushing wheel chairs. I know with most anything (wagon, stroller, bike) you want to hit a curb (or in this case a track in the pavement where the train track run for the trolley) straight on and with a little burst of speed. So I turn to hit the "gap", give it a little 'gas' and WHAM!!! both tiny little front weeks drop in to the hole and I tip the chair forward and the not so elderly but very overweight father of my wife goes flying off the seat in to an upright position and nearly flat on his face! Yep I exclaimed a not nice word... and it wasn't "Oh Crap!" I turned red as can be for the next five minutes for both nearly dumping my dad in law and cursing on Main St. USA! I apologize then and I'll apologize again now.

I hate seeing people drag kids around who are obviously exhausted and over-done, crying, sunburned, whatever. It makes me crazy that some people seem to have no regard for the fact that 8, 6, 4, 2, whatever-year-olds CANNOT keep the same pace as their parents! We haven't been to WDW yet (c'mon June!) but I'm bracing myself for a lot of this. I've seen it at plenty of amusement parks and other places (we all have). I just want to smack them and say "You know what, idiot? Your preschooler has no concept of whatever it is you spent on this trip, so stop reminding him!" Some people seem to not understand that your expectations of a vacation need to change when you have kids.

And big dittos to whoever posted about the jerks who force their kids onto rides they aren't ready for!

I never realized how much this happens and how annoying it is until my most recent trip. For example: We were on Pirates of the Caribbean and I had a dad with two kids behind me(probably around 6 or 7 yrs old). This was the dad...."Oh, look at the scary skeleton blowing in the wind......ooh, look at the big pirate ships, they are shooting at each other. Oooh, look at the pirate sleeping with the pigs....and look over there, it's Jack Sparrow....I wonder what he's doing there? Now look at the dog outside the cell...they want his key but he won't give it to them.....oooh, look it's Capt. Jack again. Where did he get all that money?"

You get the hint......the kids never made a single comment or reply to any of his commentary. I mentioned this to my friends and found out they were all annoyed too but didn't say anything. I know it's petty, but come on! Some of us like to enjoy the atmosphere of the ride without the play by play! This happened over and over(Everest, Kilimanjaro, Dinosaur, Great Movie Ride, etc.)

Now before you get upset....I understand that the dad was probably just caught up in the excitement and that's fine. But it all ties back to people remembering that they aren't the only ones trying to enjoy the ride and the scenery. When I take my nephew who is 4 he is quite capable of enjoying the rides without me pointing out every little detail as it happens.

Wow, I think I need a drink now......

Neutral on that one... If it's one or two things, or not so obvious things, or mostly pointing... or younger kids I could see it. But as you describe it that would be over the top.

I only jumped in becuase of your post... I've never had the nerve, but thought it would be fun to to this. Explain stuff to my wife loudly... and be all totally fake. Just act like a know-it-all but be totally off. "You know, the Castle used to be over there" On POTC... "you know that's all real gold" TOT "This used to be a Holiday Inn"
