What are your hobbies?

I like to read, but am ever so picky about the books, so much so that the librarian gets a frightened look on her face every time I walk in. I also like to sew, cook and scrapbook (I have a Cricut and love it). I need hobbies, or I start to converse with people, and that never works out.

8= built wooden push carts from scrap
10= built wooden forts in the backyards of my two freinds and mine. Never played in them. we just built them
13= collected keychains heheheheee
19-24= raced High performance Go Karts locally and some national tracks
23-33= raced high performance RC cars, trucks, buggies across the nation. Our track hosted the off-road nationals.
Since then mostly photography.

I love to read--I've been unofficially named the patron with the most interesting reading list at our local library. Our library is pretty small, so I end up getting a lot of things through inter-library loan. I interlibrary loan so much stuff, one of the staffers has my ph.# on speed dial.

I like to read, but I only have time during semester breaks from law school (like right now!).

I guess my biggest hobby would be singing - choir is 1-3 rehearsals per week (depending on the time of year) plus singing on Sundays. It can be a big time commitment, but digging into some music is just great and the best way to close out the rest of the world (I think!).

I also teach/tutor French lessons, but that's for pay.

Reading - it's my xanax. I never go anywhere without a book. I also think of planning my Disney vacations as a hobby of sorts. We go every year so there's always one in the works. Of course, by now we've been so many times that it's pretty much a brainless activity, but I go through the motions anyway. It makes me happy.

I really do need to find some more hobbies as the kids get older, but I'm having trouble coming up with anything. I'd like to do something that's actually productive but I hate gardening and I suck at decorating. I'm not athletic at all. We do have a piano so maybe I'll get back into playing.

wood craft. i love making pretty things from wood. i build furniture, do wood turning, if you can make it out of wood.. i most likely have tryed at least.

Birding. I always bring my binnocculars to WDW, and sometimes time is available to do some birding either at Fort Wilderness or a golf course (while DH golfs). Or I've spent a couple hours on the boat between Epcot and DHS, sitting out back with my binnocculars. And yes,people do look at me strange, wonder why?

Buying and selling out of print books and ephemera--gives me an excuse for poking around at estate sales and yard sales, which I love!

Reading--my life-long passion.

Anything involving water--DH and I will be kayaking and manatee-watching this coming Sunday! We also spend a lot of time at the beach.

Disney--we go one weekend a month, about 8 months out of the year. Disney encompasses several of my favorite past-times, which are seeing live bands, eating out, and indulging in some special adult beverages.

I've just started making bead earrings and I now have a lifetime supply! I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a fun, easy hobby that lets you play with lots of pretty baubles. It takes about 5 minutes to make a simple pair of earrings and you can make earrings to match every outfit!

Playing piano, guitar and clarinet. Going to a community concert band. Cooking, especially baking. Going to church to work in the Thrift store and attending Bible study. Helping out at the church dinners for the community. Walking and then going for coffee with a friend. Walking and perusing the local shops (loonie stores).

I think a PP asked about my reading list. I've asked for a lot of bizarre things through interlibrary loan such as books on medieval sewing techniques and clothing patterns, a book that was more or less a comprehensive list and comparison of all known pirates (both historical and fictional/on screen), a book on medieval music, Peter and the Starcatchers, some fictional mystery about bringing back Walt Disney (Waking Walt I think it was called) which I LOVED ..oh gosh. I don't remember what else. But enouogh to make the head librarian raise her eyebrows whenever I turn in an ILL form.

Before I went back to graduate school a few years ago I spent a lot of time on my hobbies. I have never gotten back into the swing of things since I graduated. Plus our apartment is really small so there are boxes of "stuff" tucked in a corner.

I admire everyone else's scrapbooks but mine never look as professioal as theirs. Nowadays I'm lucky to get my pictures printed and in an album.
