What are your gym classes like?

Okay. Mine gym class is so stupid. We run laps around the gym. Then we run up and back down the court and backwards, sideways. At the end of the year we do a "fitness test" and have to run 9 laps around the parking lot. ( the parking lot is not small ) I mean I am used to running laps and stuff for basketball. But gym used to be my favorite subject. (at my old school, though) The laps isnt that bad because my friend runs slow for the laps and I just got behind her. :goodvibes

Since I'm in Elementary it's called PE. Let's see... today we first ran 2 laps, then we had the girls run to a line and back(I won!) and then the boys did the same thing... then we had a relay race and then free time.
 
i dont have gym anymore. I do sports instead. But what you are doing it sounds like they are conditioning you for something. CUz thats things that we do for pre-season
 
we do different units (or sports or w/e), but for the most part its not co-ed.

It's the same at my school. We have units like yoga, rollerblading, tennis, floor hockey, volleyball, etc.

wow yours are cool! lol we do stupid stuff like weight room and indoor soccer and team handball.
 
we walk for half the period and then we play serve ball or some weird game like that.
 
First off let me say... I am not athletic.

It is PE also at my middle school (I'm in 7th grade)
We sit and let the morning announcements roll by, then get into our gym close, then run for 8-10 minutes, then do whatever Coach Eilers tells us to do.
 
My PE is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo darn easy!!!! it's like I want 500 laps aroiund the gym because it's sooo dran easy!!!!!!

BUT...


There's this thing in the summer for football it's called hell week and there we like get ready for football seson.. and it's gonna be very awkward cuz I'm gonna be the only girl...
 
my gym class is so easy it isnt even funny.......our warm-up....we run for 30 seconds and then walk for a minute...we do that like 2 times....then we have different units too like right now we are doing floor hockey(sooo easy since im used to field hockey) but next we have volleyball and so on...but on wendsdays they make us do stations where they make us do like 50 sit-ups and one station and 50 push-ups at another one....everybody hates wendsdays....but our gym teachers must be stupid for making us do a 2 minute walk/jog warm-up...@ my elementary school our warm up was 12 minutes running not jogging......and then everybody asks me how i can make our warm-up(2 minutes) and i just say, im used to running for 30 minutes straight from field hockey and such...........and then the school people complain about how some of the kids in the school are "overweight"!!!!

Yea, not to be mean, but thats just wrong. Thats not even a warm up. For field hockey, we run around the feild twice and then stretch just for warm up then we run 3 3 field runs(thats when we run around the field hockey, football/baseball, and soccer fields 3 times) or we run for about 3 miles and then sprint.
and for volleyball we run around the gym twice. thats like the least running we do, but sometimes we run stairs.
for softball, right now since we are inside still we run back and forth from one end to the other of the gym 7 times in the middle of practice we sprint to the middle then jog to the end and then do it again. and at the end, we sprint the bases.
And if we do anything wrong in any of the sports during practice, we have to do some kind of running drill.
So if i went to your school, I would be soooooo out of shape. No wonder America has the most obese people in the world... Again not trying to be mean at all.
 
In my class we do different stuff every term: like Dance, football (soccer), Hockey etc. But this current term we have a choice of basketball or badminton. I always chose basketball, but for basketball we have to run around the outside of the tennis courts(which is four tennis courts in a row and a soccer court. Then we have to start on the line and run all the way up to the top of the court and run all the way back about 6 times and then because its basketball we do a bit of key skills and then have a game at the end. :goodvibes
 
In gym at my secondry school we get all these ropes out and mats and these ladders on the walls that you climb up and we make different ways of traveling around the room
I like to swing on the ropes!!! :teeth: :rotfl:
 
I don't have a gym class this year. Actually I'm waiting for my Senior year to get my one credit of P.E. in, so that way I can own all the stupid freshmen taking it in all the sports we play.

But last year, our warm ups were this.....

Stretch. After that, run around the gym for 5-10 minutes, with a ten second sprint at the end, and if you didn't sprint, suicides. After the laps, suicides. And if you didn't make them in 45 seconds, (which was hard because we had some people that didn't care), we had to run another one, and another one, and so on until we got it. After that, we split up into teams, and played the game that we were on for that two weeks or so. After doing that for a good hour, stretch again. Shower, and wait for the bell.

The one thing I hated was our floor hockey "unit". We played it for one freaking day. There were also so many rules it was a joke to even call it hockey. We could only do wristshots and backhanders. We couldn't check anybody. I mean, I bumped into this other kid, and I got thrown into the "penalty box".
 
our gym is ****TY. our gym teacher is AWESOME when he's NOT teaching.

we basically play..
- Soccer (always first)
- Volleyball
- Ball Hockey (occasionally)
- Basketball (two to three weeks)
- Badminton (FOREVER)

we manage to fit the following in between stuff:
- six minute jog
- exercise circuits (push ups, crunches, burpees, skipping and we have to keep track of how many we do)
- Fourty laps (it's ridiculous! i went home sick last time after doing them. we were supposed to do them today again)
- Dodgeball

and near the end of the year we go outside & play soccer baseball.
but the fourty laps is ridiculous. we have to run a half of our gym. & let's just say our gym is like twice (and maybe a half) times bigger than one of those cheapo middle schools.
 
Well I take a dance class instead of gym
So we did the jitterbug and now we are doing african dancing which I really love :love:
 
I like physical education. We get to go swimming on Tuesday-Friday and than we are playing badminton!! WOOOOOOOOOT
 
We have different units every four weeks or so (I have gym every other day)... we do stuff like volleyball, basketball, swimming, weight lifting, ect. I don't find gym too bad, because all my teachers in high school have been easy :rotfl:
 
We usually do dodgeball, or hockey. We have a different unit each quarter, so we have to quarters of physical fittness which isn't that bad. So our gym class is way easier then most.
 
I think that my gym class was kind of like the scene from return of the kings where theres a bunch of orcs running around on patrol or something and shouts "Get back to the gate you maggots" is kind of like how my gym teachers were. Not in gym anymore play sports hockey and tae kwon do.
