OK - so I'm leaving in a few weeks heading back to my favorite place on Earth - Universal. Thought it would be fun if we shared some favorites. It's easy for me to fall into the same old same old - looking to try some new things!

1. The BEST burger you ever had while at CW, the hotels, the parks?

The short rib burger at Islands dining room or room service at RPR.


2. The BEST Nachos

Margaritaville with The Beach Club at Hard Rock Hotel coming in a close 2nd.


3. Your favorite dessert.

Peanut Butter chunk Cookie at Studio Sweets - looking forward to trying a peanut butter diamond from San Fransisco Pastry Company.


4. Your favorite drink - w/ or w/o alcohol.

Mt. Kumuneyewanadrinkya at Jakes and Potion of the Gods at Mythos

5. Your favorite snack.

Turkey Leg

6. Your favorite show.

BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE!

7. Your favorite ride.

I can't answer - I have too many favorites. Spiderman, Popeye, Mummy, Hulk

Do you have any traditions? For our family we always arrive - check-in and have our first meal at Margaritaville - that starts off our vacation and is tradition! Must stay as long as we have to to watch the volcano erupt

Best burger in Universal/Citywalk/Parks was Bomber Burger in Jake`s Lounge.............fantastic......Onion rings are excellent also

Nachos was Margaritaville closely followed by Confisco Grille`s although I have Chicken as I don`t like Chilli beef.

Dessert......mmm. Not sure. Not big on desserts. Key Lime Cheesecake from SanFrancisco Bakery was lush. But love Ben and Jerry`s in the studios opposite Louie`s Pizza.

Drink.........any cocktail from anywhere

Snack..........Cinnabon.

Favourite Show...........Horror Make Up

Favourite Ride??????..........Can`t pick one........Duelling Dragons, JP, Mummy, RRR, and maybe macraven will let me share Dr Doom now and again

Don`t have a favourite shop........love them all. I can spend a penny anywhere

Our tradition is Jake`s Bar in RPR on the first night. Not only because we are too tired to go anywhere else after 22 hours of being awake...... But we just love it........food and atmosphere are fantastic

I never had the nachos at HRC - always in search of some good nachos. I don't eat burgers either, but it's a mainstay on my husbands diet. Love a good drink at Finnegan's too especially when I get them to ring the bell! You can HAVE Dr Doom - he scares me.

I will tell my husband about the bomber burger - thanks! I also order my nachos with chicken. Horror make-up show is my 2nd favorite becuase I am always THAT person getting soaked by the pumping heart.

The burger at The Palm Restaurant at the Hard Rock... incredible!

2. The BEST Nachos

I've only had the nachos at Margaritaville, but they're such a staple for my friends and I when we go to CityWalk.


3. Your favorite dessert.

The Strawberry Peanut Butter Ice Cream at the Wizarding World or caramel and chocolate apples.


4. Your favorite drink - w/ or w/o alcohol.

Frozen Butterbeer. The alcoholic drinks at Hard Rock cafe are good, although I usually drink at Cigarz because it's so cheap!

5. Your favorite snack.

I can't really think of anything I snack on at the parks..

6. Your favorite show.

Universal's Cinematic Spectacular, the Superstar Parade, and the Horror Make-Up Show.

7. Your favorite ride.

So many. In terms of the whole package (exterior, queue, ride itself), hands down it is Forbidden Journey. It terms of pure fun factor, Dragon Challenge and Hulk are great.. Spider-Man in incredible visually, Mummy is great, I love trying to beat my high score on MIB... Gosh, I just love those parks

8. If you shop - your favorite store.

Dervish and Banges, Filch's Emporium, and the art store at the Portofino

I'm going to go with HRC ... just because that's the only burger I can remember eating at Universal.

Never had them, even though it was on my to-do list to try them at Margaritaville. Next time, for sure!

3. Your favorite dessert.

The banana bread pudding at Margaritaville. Oh my Lord, it was so good! Banana bread pudding + vanilla ice cream + whipped topping + chocolate sauce + a sprinkle of peanuts = YUM! My DH loved it so much that we scrapped our carefully planned dinner itinerary and ate at Margaritaville every night.

4. Your favorite drink - w/ or w/o alcohol.

Without alcohol? Frozen butter beer, although that might be more in the snack territory. With? Bud Light with a fresh lime. Boring, huh?

5. Your favorite snack.

Cauldron cakes! I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved them. I thought they'd be too rich.

6. Your favorite show?

That's a toughie. I love me some Beetlejuice, but I have to go with Horror Makeup.

7. Your favorite ride?

Oh, man! Impossible question. I'm tempted to say FJ for the queue, but I'm going with Spiderman because of emotional connection. One time, my boys and I rode it with these young girls who screamed the entire time. And when I say screamed, I mean SCREAMED! It was beyond annoying, so at the end of the ride, my youngest, (the one by Betty, who is usually very calm and patient,) gripped his lap bar with both hands and screamed at the top of his lungs. It was rude and I should have corrected him, but good grief, it was hilarious! We still laugh about it.

8. If you shop - your favorite store.

Port of Entry Christmas Shoppe because of the customer service. My oldest DS was bummed because there were no dog tags with his name on them, so this one sweetheart of a gal took a tag I had purchased in a different gift shop and painted it on for me. My big guy was real tickled!

I rarely order a burger on vacation unless the other menu offerings don't call to me. In citiwalk, BurgerKing has worked for lunch. Not a fan of any Hard Rock restaurants (but i go along with the flow kwim?) their burgers are decent

Another thing i rarely order, have nibbled on them when doing drinks/appetizers at Margaritavilles were tasty


3. Your favorite dessert.

The only time I eat a funnel cake is at the stand in IOA with the ice cream & whipped cream for good measure. Rarely do i get half-way thru it wish they had a smaller size.

4. Your favorite drink - w/ or w/o alcohol.

Throw a couple of landsharks & lemons at me and i'm happy. Just say no to butterbeer

5. Your favorite snack.

Usually just walk thru them all but wind up buying t-shirts on clearance near the exits

No particular traditions come to mind other than remembering to grab some cold cinnabons for the mr before we leave IOA. What I like best about staying onsite at Universal is the ability not to commando/plan. Pure relaxation is most welcome after the busy disney portions of our trips. Often we head to the pool mid morning and hang until early afternoon before the crowd descends.

I loved all the Honeydukes treats we had a chance to try, I swear we are going to try one of everything this upcoming trip if it kills us haha!

I'm going with the obvious, Butterbeer. Mmmm.. though, Potion of the Gods sounds pretty amazing. I might have to order that!

5. Your favorite snack.
We had the most AMAZING pizza and wings from room service at RPR. I'm pretty sure it was from Islands, but I could be wrong. I'm having dreams about those wings.


6. Your favorite show.

Gotta be a tie between the Horror Makeup Show and Beetlejuice. Last trip we sat front row center for the makeup show, that definitely made it more enjoyable

7. Your favorite ride.

Jurassic Park is one of my all time favorites! I was heartbroken Jaws was taken out 2 months before my daughters first trip. I so wanted her to experience one of my childhood rides.


8. If you shop - your favorite store.

All the HP stores fascinated me, we're spending 4 days at US/IoA this time so I hope to explore lots more shops this time

this post really made me think. ive been going to USF 3 to 4 times a year for about 7 years.This last year I lost my enthusiasm for it and we let our AP expire. We planned on doing something else for vacation, but unfortuntely, an issue prevented that.Then my 16 year old boys really pushed me to reconsider going back to HHN. well Im psyched now too. we got our AP's back, our HHN tickets,and after reading this post, it reminds me to slow down and enjoy the simple things. Thanks people!

I will be looking for that ice cream flavor - pretty much if something has peanut butter - it's for me! I never stepped foot inside Cigarz - will do that next trip too! Thanks.

Years ago I had bread pudding at Confisco's - it was exactly as you described except it had peanut butter swirls through it. I never had it again but will remember to look for it this trip!

That is also my favorite store - that was very nice what they did there for you. Customer service at Universal - is TOPS.

We have been making the trip at least twice a year sometimes more from NY for 12 years. My husband lost his desire to spend every vacation there a few years back too - just didn't want to go as often and actually skipped 2 years in a row while I went w/o him. He is returning with the rest of us in a little over 2 weeks and I think he is more excited than the rest of us! Glad to see him like this again.

So glad you are returning and excited about it too! When will you be at HHN? Hope you have the BEST vacation ever and really would love to hear about your trip when you return.

There is no better place than Universal to slow down and take it ALL in - thanks for posting.

swarms of them @ mr buffet's house. Funny thing is in Orlando I saw a case of it @ Sams Club around $10...in the great state of PA it's closer to $30 and considered a premium brew lol. Even here it's still cheaper than similar Corona.
