Hi Everyone, my husband and I are both seniors and don't do rides. What are your favorite attractions, entertainment, and things to do? What is your favorite park?
Thanks Freemore

Why don't you do rides? :confused3

Have you been to WDW before?

I love people watching, walking thru the World Showcase countries in Epcot, browsing in DTD, mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens, renting a surrey-bike at the Boardwalk and riding in the big circle, eating, watching fireworks in the MK, getting on the train in MK and just staying on for an hour..........my list is endless!

I hope you don't do rides JUST because you are a senior???

BTW, I am not a senior. I am 44 with spinal issues. The only way I won't do a ride is if I am sure that it will cause me problems (not based upon the ride warnings!). I have seen plenty of able-bodied seniors getting on things that I wish I could ride!

Off Kilter
Off Kilter
Off Kilter
and occasionally British Invasion

I love staying at the BCV and walking to/from Canada and the UK

If I had to go to WDW and not ride any rides I would definately campout in front of the Off Kilter stage!

"thats where I'll be" (dancing by myself)
Nov 13th when I turn 50

of course I'll be spending most of that week and most of my solo April week there too!

My favorite live entertainment is the World Showcase Players in WS in Epcot and the Jammitors in FW. For shows, I love Flights of Wonder, Finding Nemo (the musical), and Beauty and the Beast (however, it helps if you're a fan of the respective movies for the last two). I've got two favorite parks-Epcot and AK. At AK, I love to just walk around and take it all in-I love the Panjani Forest Trail and the Conservation Station. At Epcot, I love strolling the different countries in WS.

the mk also some nice shows - to storytelling to a full theatre event in front of the castle.

shows not rides at the MK
at the MK in adventureland
Enchanted Tiki room
Jungle cruise - well this is a ride and a show - but it is just a boat ride.

Fantasyland
Mickey's PhilharMagic

these are very, very tame rides and shows
It's a Small world - boat ride
Peter Pan - you will love it promise.

Liberty Square - non rides
Hall Of President

boat ride - Liberty Square Riverboat (if you can do the ferry going to the MK you can do this one)

On my last few trips I liked watching the Village Beatniks at AK. They appear about every hour just before the bridge going towards the the Dig Site.

I am not sure of the name of the attraction but at MGM close to Ariel's show I love the story of Walt We started talking to the attendent and he even told us more and we learned so much. There are lots of artifacts to look at as well and Walt's old office from the 60's

My kids and I love the blue people movers at MK. It is a 10 min ride or so and we just sit back and relax.

It is a 37 min ride and very interesting. There is nice ac. Dinosaurs that are not scarry.

MK seems to cater to rides that don't move quickly or jolt you around. I actually think you would be fine on things like Peter Pan, certainly Jungle Cruise, even the Haunted Mansion. PLus the shows are fantastic (Cinderellabration, Mickeys' Phillharmonic, The Parades....).

MGM and EPCOT are in the same boat. There are many more rides that don't move around than there are "thrill" or "motion" rides. Perhaps a good way to guide you is to look at height restrictions. If little ones are allowed on, it's a pretty sure bet you aren't moving since moms have babies on their laps!!

I am not a ride person either (I get motion sick) but I have never felt like I was missing out by not riding the bigger thrill rides. I usually take in a show that the "thrill seekers" in our group choose to pass on!!

The good thing about Disney is that they have rides that aren't thrill rides,
too. And their live entertainment is very good, as well.

In the Magic Kingdom:

Avoid anything with "Mountain" in the name if you don't like coasters or
big drops. You can pretty much do just about anything else. Don't
miss Mickey's Philharmagic 3D film. It's really wonderful. You will often
find live entertainment on Main Street. Just look for any costumed people
who look like they've stepped out of "Meet Me in St. Louis". ;)

In Epcot:

World Showcase is your oyster. Be sure to pick up a live entertainment
schedule (when you're picking up the park map at the park entrance).
I'm a fan of Off Kilter and British Invasion, too. And the World Showcase
Players comedy troupe are a lot of fun. They alternate different shows
throughout the afternoon. If you're doing Future World, and you don't
mind heights, you can still enjoy Soarin' in the Land pavilion. It is a motion
simulator, but it's very gentle.

In Disney-MGM:

Streetmosphere characters will often appear around Hollywood and Sunset
Blvd. They are the comedy troupe for this park. Avoid the end of Sunset
Blvd if you want to skip thrill rides. I'd say you'd probably enjoy the
Great Movie Ride, inside the Chinese Theater (behind the gigantic Sorcerer
Mickey hat.) There are two stunt shows, Indiana Jones and Lights, Motors,
Action! Even though it's an indoor show, Sounds Dangerous isn't that good.
It's meant to be an auditory experience, which means most of it is in the dark.

In Animal Kingdom:

Festival of the Lion King. Do not miss this show. I try to get into the queue
30 minutes early. Best show in a park. I have heard good things about
the Finding Nemo musical, but I haven't seen it yet. Avoid Expedition Everest
and Dinosaur. Well, Dinoland, skip. There's nothing you'd really like here,
I'm thinking. Their are animal trails in Africa and Asia that I recommend.
You will often see cast members standing around. They are there for your
enjoyment, too. Talk to them. Ask them questions. They are there for
this purpose. I also recommend the Kilimanjaro Safari, but ask that you're
not in the back rows. It's very jostling and bumpy in the back. Avoid Kali
River Rapids unless you want to possibly get drenched.

I second everything that BriarRosie said...

I simply love Mickey's Philharmagic in Magic Kingdom, I would also add that you could take the jungle cruise and go on the boat from Liberty Square. Everyone should ride 'it's a small world' at least once - you just sit in a little boat and gently float through different lands...
Buy icecream at the icecream plaza on main street and watch the parade or Mickeys dream show (at the castle).:)

At Epcot visit the living seas to see the dolphins and other sea creatures. Watch Reflections, illuminations of earth in the evening and definately do soarin' (as long as you don't mind heights). Soarin is a ride, but it's beautiful and not a roller coaster type thing. Make sure you get a fast pass though as the queue can be huge. Wander round the world show case and enjoy all the different cultures available to you there.

Most things in Animal Kingdom will be fun for you (avoiding those things that BriarRose mentioned earlier). I love the 'flights of wonder' show where you will see lots of different birds and be able to get some great photo's. Get there in plenty of time to ensure you get in, if you are going at a busy season.
Also walk around the Maharajah Jungle trek (trek is an overstatement... it's just a stroll) and the Pangani Forest Trail to see hippos in the underwater viewing area, gorillas and much much more. Also take a quiet stroll on discovery island to view the tree of life from lots of different angles!

At MGM walk through the inspirational 'one mans dream' exhibit and film to find out more about the man himself and if you enjoyed Narnia you could visit this exibit too.

Hope this all helps, have a great time;)

My favorite park is Epcot.

For a non-ride attraction there, try the pre-shows and main show at The American Adventure. There is a patriotic marching band, followed by a patriotic choir, followed by a multi-media theater show about American history.

There is non-ride entertainment at all the countries of World Showcase.

I also like Jellyrolls (singalong music nightclub) at the Boardwalk, but the music is too loud, so you may want to bring earplugs. Also, they allow smoking, so if that bothers you a lot, you may not be comfortable.

Another favorite show of mine is the improvisational comedy show at Comedy Warehouse at Pleasure Island. Because it's based on interactions with the audience, each show is unique.

I enjoy the nightly Electrical Water Pageant show, visible from the shores of the Magic Kingdom resort hotels.

There are many places where you can enjoy a scenic walk on the grounds of the various Disney resorts. Spectacular views are everywhere.

There is also karaoke at Kimono's lounge.

You could have a lot of fun even without going on any rides, but I agree with other posters that Disney World has an abundance of mild, tame, relaxing rides that are less stressful than riding in an automobile. I am not sure why you would want to avoid these rides.

Either way, have fun!

Fantasia Gardens. Best mini-golf anywhere.

I don't have a favorite park, but I'd say Animal Kingdom is the best for wandering around and looking at the sights (i.e. the animals).

The older I get, the more I like Magic Kingdom. It has the most to do, and the shortest distance between attractions.

My new favorite non-ride attraction is the Country Bears Jamboree. For some reason, we never saw it until this last trip. I laughed so hard, I had tears in my eyes and a cramp in my side. We saw it four times. I think a lot of adults skip this because they think it's for kids, but much of the humor was aimed at adults. A definite must see.

While at MK, I have to get a strawberry swirl from Enchanted Grove. It's my favorite ice cream at the World. The tables there are set away from the crowds, so you can rest and refuel for more fun.

Have a blast!
