Hi everyone,
I teach a college class part-time and one of the assignments my students do is a group project on an inspirational movie. I have been teaching this class 3 years and I have seen projects on the same movies over and over - I need a change!

The movies I have been using are:
Remember the Titans
Philadelphia
Rudy
Pay it Forward
The Pursuit of Happyness
Freedom Writers
Dead Poet's Society

Please recommend your favorite inspirational movie/movies for me to add to the list for the fall term. Thanks in advance!!! :goodvibes

You already have some really good ones. If you are just adding to your list, have you considered:

Stand and Deliver
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
The Great Debaters
The Emperors Club
The Shawshank Redemption
Apollo 13

There are so many to choose from. Some are rather depressing at times, though.

An older one that I really like is A Patch of Blue starring Sidney Poitier, Shelley Winters and Elizabeth Hartman. Shelley Winters won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role.

A newer film you might consider is based on a true story The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern. I really enjoyed it even though it's a lesser known film.

If you want more info on these or others, you can look them up at the Internet Movie Database at www.imdb.com .

My favorites are "To Sir With Love", "Lillies of the Field" and "Places In the Heart". Seems like Sidney Poitier has done a lot of inspirational movies..

Miracle - 1980 American Olympic Hockey Team

We are Marshall

October Sky

Invincible
Dangerous Minds
Life as a House
... this would probably be my #1 choice

I'm not sure these are inspirational to others, but to me they are in some way, shape or form :goodvibes:

Lilies of the Field
You Can't Take It With You
PS I Love You
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
A Portrait of Jennie
Neverwas

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! It looks like I'll have a whole new list for this fall. The other movies are great but I'm tired of seeing the same presentations over and over.

Erin Brockovich - true story of a 3 time divorcee with no college education who wins the largest lawsuit in C.A. at that time.

I agree with The Shawshank Redemption. :thumbsup2

Ambition to Meaning: Finding Your Life's Purpose it's a movie by/about inspirational coach Dr. Wayne Dyer. He's being interviewed at an inn, yet they cut away to a couple of seemingly random (fictional) incidences on the side at the inn. One story is played by Portia DeRossi (Ellen Degeneres' partner,) and another is about the director doing the interview. It turns out their little stories are exactly what Wayne is talking about. ;) it's inspirational without hitting you over the head in a "lecture" kind of way. I think it can be watched online for free on some website.

Two oldies from the late 70's:
Breaking Away and
Chariots of Fire.

Also,
Searching for Bobby Fischer
The Karate Kid
Flashdance

I also like Never Been Kissed.;)

I LOVE this movie. It's so sweet. I'm pretty much down with anything Drew Barrymore is. It's a sad movie, but a wonderful ending.

I was going to say Rudy, but it's on your list.

Oh, I haven't read all the posts, so someone may have mentioned this, Life Is Beautiful. GREAT movie. Very inspiring.
