What are your Disney splurges?

splurge 1 - deluxe resort :flower3:

splurge 2 - special tour - ie: 1 year we did the segway in epcot, this time will do Wild Africa Trek. (we only go every 10 years or so:sad:)

Honestly the trip itself is always a splurge I try to stay frugal for myself and give my boys more of the souvenier money However, I have to go home with at least one pin. I dont trade them but they are usually less than $15.

This time, we have a bit extra to spend...I might go home with a sweatshirt or a new purse ;)

Splurges change over time - :tink:
We have been going every year now since 99 and going defiantly was our splurge even to stay at the campgrounds (used to get a post card deal for 29 or 30 dollars per night)
We did breakfast in the motorhome, counter service most nights with 1 character dinner and 1 character breakfast per trip with a few mickey bars thrown in
autograph books and 1 large splurge for each of my 2 boys (1 year they got the monorail ,the mickey phone ,the pal mickey) and grandma usually gave them Disney Dollars before we left -For Myself my fam usually got me a fancy Disney globe each year for my birthday and I have a few from Disneyland but my Disney cabinet is full now and it would take something VERY special for me to get something new !
As our income got better ,I was still just as frugal -maybe I would get a sweatshirt or antenna topper once in awhile or we would do Table service a little more often but I still don't miss my earl of sandwich or Wolfgang puck express each trip
So our big splurge was a DVC when they opened Bay Lake Towers ,I have always been a huge monorail geek since my visits when I was a kid - it was so cool .... to pass threw the contemporary but as an adult I was just to frugal to spend the money it seemed like way to much per night for just a room at the deluxe places ....so now I always spend my 1st 5 days at BLT and my 1st night I take the monorail to the Polly for a dole whip and take a round trip on the monorail just to get my Disney on
I also Have the Disney rewards card ,so depending on my amount that I accumulated though the year I get a Kameleon piece of jewelry from either the Wyland Galleries (used to be at the Polly) they have pop out charms so you can change up your stuff with a new charm each year -and you can get a few special Disney charms at the Disney jewelry shops now too !
So know that I could probably afford anything I want I am very happy with walking back from the magic kingdom in the evening ,my new charm, my refillable cup and remembering all the fun times I enjoyed with my family over the years !

Ornaments. Every trip, I say I'll get one. Last trip was a budget trip so I only got 4.

Us too. Only one though.

I'm a cheapskate ... and when I say that I feel honestly bad about admiting it. Sometime people admit to frugality in a way that implies they're actually quite proud of it, but I really don't like the way, after having obviously splurged for the completely unneeded trip, once the wife and I arrive I become this grouchy bear over a meal, a souvenir, whatever. Needless to say, the wife does not enjoy it either.

The vacation is the splurge, deluxe resort with club level.

If we are going during food & wine, I book a seminar, culinary or beverage.

I also sometimes make special dinner arrangements if someone in our party is celebrating a special occasion, last year I had booked Victoria & Alberts for my sisters birthday.

Every trip I have to get a pin that reflects the vacation to remind me of the fun we had.

If I can find one of those souvenir Dumbo popcorn buckets next month I will splurge and buy it (not usually something we'd buy). popcorn::

Might look at an Alex & Ani bracelet if I come across them.

For me the real splurge this trip was the memory maker photo thing.

On our last two trips we rented a Cadillac. We are DVC members so it was great to be able to go grocery shopping, drive to the parks and to Vero Beach in style. It sure beats riding in a canary yellow gypsy cart.

ok so my splurge is disney Pins i have a nice small collection lol slowly growing each trip, and last two years I've become obsessed with Vinylmation i have a case which holds 12 no specific set or anything i just find ones that i like and try to get them lol
on upcoming trip plan to get at least 1 pin and 1 vinylmation :santa:

when i first got into them i was in downtown at Dstreet and i saw the displays filled with all of them and i fell in love with the little peter pan one sadly that series had already been discontinued i asked the Cast member about it and told her how i was obsessed with Peter Pan and how there was no merchandise for him, and she said to wait a minute well she came back out with a box and told me to go buy any vinylmation in the store which i did then she proceeded to trade me right there i opened the box and it was the Peter:yay:

ever since been hooked!

We splurge on an event each time - fireworks dessert party, Halloween party, etc. Will move on to tours soon as my daughter is getting older.

And we usually have one signature meal that's a splurge as well. We usually go during free dining but will add on appetizers and drinks galore for that meal - whatever everyone wants!

One of my favorite things about Disney is how much you can say "YES" when you're there!!!
:woohoo:

I usually do splurge but nothing specific. (and sometimes not at all)

Sometimes it's a VB purse or a dinner show/restaurant or a tour. It's never one thing in particular it's just some thing that makes that trip a little more special.

This trip I did a deluxe (took mom) with a upgraded room, and I ordered a couple of surprises from Disney Floral.

Next trip is a solo trip and I'll either pick out a tour or I'll go hit a couple of restaurants that I would like to try. Thinking Le Cellier or Artist Pointe.

For a trip next fall we're staying deluxe again and I'll either book a fireworks cruise or do one of the fireworks events.

Although when you think about it, being from the Midwest the cost of a WDW vacation is pretty splure-y all on it's own. (I have to fly, I usually buy tickets per trip, eating out for that many days etc). I pay way more for WDW vacations than I do going to Vegas or Chicago or taking a cruise or shopping trips to Dallas.

On a whim, I booked the Quen Victoria room at V&A and VGF for my birthday weekend. Shocked both were available.

Definitely pins. We usually each pick 2 (there are 5 of us) that are special to us. At about 10 bucks a piece that's $100. Then I always have to get a box or two of the random collections. Those are usually $15. I know its ridiculous but I can't resist the allure of the pins!! I also usually buy lots of pins on eBay to trade. Trading is one of the highlights of our trips!

Pins are my weakness too. A pin here, a pin there. Before I know it I have a lanyard or 2 full of pins any a big empty space in my wallet where my money used to be.:rotfl:

Now that I think about it

Last three trips I've brought home boxes of those Mickey head shapped coconut patties. Love those silly things :rotfl: Got home last Thursday and put two of the large boxes in my freezer.

I consider that a splurge because

1. It's pricey for a box of candy so a splurge money wise

2. I'm actually sensitive to one of the ingredients (it is one that I have some tolerance too) so can only have them occasionally so a splurge consumption wise.

We try to find a pin with the year that we are visiting, as well as a resort pin.

Just got hooked on disney Vera Bradleys, so picked up two in DL last month.
