What are your christmas plans this year?

Same as every year. We will get up super early with the kids, my dad will come over and I'll throw a french toast casserole in the oven. We spend the day in our pj's playing with all our new toys. Our friends and family do not live in our area so we don't go to anyone's house or host dinner.

Our extended family always has a wonderful C'mas eve get together dinner and gift exchange. This allows our kids to have C'mas day free with their family making their own traditions. C'mas day is usually spent with my Mom and the kids, grands/greats, will drop in sometime during the day. Love the holidays! :goodvibes

Hope all those going to the world have a magical time! :goodvibes

not really sure this year.. Im just not even in the spirit this year and really hope to be able to stay home.. but not sure..

One of mine and DH's friends passed away this year.. within a few months my grandmom passed away and then within a month my uncle passed away... This year just doesnt feel the same for me..

Im really hoping to sleep in just a little and then get up and make breakfast before we open gifts.. then hoping to rent a few movies the day before and just relax at home..

:sad1: I will be at work. 12 hour shift in NICU. DH will have dinner on the table when I get home at 8:00 p.m. We will open our presents and then I go to bed because I have to work the next day also. :)

Buying a new house and we close 12/18. We'll get our tree after we close and take it to the new house with decorations and put it up. On the 21st, we'll be moving with a moving company. Christmas will be quiet, in our new house and anyone who wants to come over is welcome!!! Btw, I'm not cooking so be ready for cold cuts. We WILL make mashed potatoes and have fresh shrimp coctail from Whole Foods though. I'm guessing DH and I will be getting each other nothing(well, does a house count?) but DS will be getting his treasured DJ Hero and some clothes with his stocking full of gift cards. DH's side usually comes to our house and my side usually celebrates some other day because there are so many in-laws to appease.

does anyone else go to church?! :confused3 he he

We usually go to mass on Christmas Eve (children's mass) at around 4-5pm
- Christmas Eve dinner at my in-laws
- christmas EARLY morning at home (the kids get up at the crack of dawn!)
- Christmas mid-morning back at in-laws for brunch
- drive about an hour to my parents house and spend the rest of the day there with my 'rents, my sister, niece and her husband!!

I was thinking about hosting a day-after Christmas party for the neighbors at our house, but I'm not sure yet...

I alternate years between spending Christmas in CA with my family, and spending Christmas in the UK with DH's family. This year it is a UK year. Two years ago, it was really difficult (they do not celebrate at all like my family does!) so I am not looking forward to it.

We'll most likely drive up on the 24th, go out for Christmas drinks with a few of his friends, and then sleep in on the 25th. Presents are opened in the afternoon and Christmas dinner is served; it is not very celebratory at all. None of the waking up at 6am, Christmas breakfast, stockings, spending your day in PJs like what I am used to.

As much as I love my DH, being away from home and all the Christmas stuff which goes along with it is the worst for me. I know it is hard for him as well, but since we live in the UK, not being able to celebrate at all in CA every other year is hard. (Last year, we had a smaller UK Christmas celebration before flying to CA for Christmas.)

We are going to my Dad and step-mom's this year. We will pretty much pick the kids up from school on the 23rd and drive down there-8 hours. Mom and I will go stocking stuffer shopping on the 24th-that is becoming a tradition so that is fun (they usually come to our place for Christmas). We will go to Mass on Christmas Eve-hopefully an earlier one-Midnight Mass is just getting too late for us old foggies:lmao:. We let the kids open one present on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas morning. My sister and her family will be joining us on Sunday so that will pretty much end any fun the rest of us will have because it's all about her once she gets there (can you tell I am thrilled for her to come).

Don't know yet. However if I get the XBOX360 250GB Limited Edition console on Tue., I can tell you that playing video games in my PJ's might be on my list.;)

We might get out and visit this year. Kids are older and so are my parents. Things have changed so we are shifting to a new way in our holiday celebrations.

I will probably be working my retail job until closing on Christmas Eve, then prep Christmas breakfast (overnight french toast-yumm), and set the table for Christmas Dinner. Christmas Day I cook all day and my inlaws come over. I think I might get about 5 minutes to sit down all day:faint:

Reading this thread is getting me in the spirit!

For me, my Christmas is Christmas Eve. What can possibly beat my Italian mother's feast of the seven fishes? So we will go to mom and dads around noon on Christmas eve. I will help her cook and my kids will beg to open gifts from the moment we get there. They will size up the boxes and give them a few shakes, and start guessing. Then we will CHOW down. Shrimp, scallops, crab cakes, lasagne and chicken parm for my seafood-hating dad, baccala, eel (ick no I don't eat that! It's for my uncle who waits all year to eat that nastiness. LOL ). Oh and don't forget the "schkadole" (escarole) and beans. LOL.

A while later my uncle Joey will disappear...and come back dressed as Santa! He gives out the gifts, usually complaining of the long night ahead and cracking many jokes. He rings the bells, the dog goes crazy and my son hides behind my father. We open presents then have dessert. By the time the day is done and we drive home the kids are exhausted. It's the best day of the year. And always has been for me. I love that my kids get to have this in their childhoods too.

Christmas day is opening presents, eating cinnamon buns and staying in jammies for as long as we can. Then we go to my SIL for dinner. It is ok.

We haven't even got Thanksgiving planned yet! Who is having it, what time it is! I'll think about Christmas about December 21!

We'll be checking out of WDW on the 24th (CBR for now - hoping our DVC resale will close SOON and we can snag a last minute reservation on points). We check into Royal Pacific at Universal for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. WDW's rates are just too high for those nights. We're looking forward to it - haven't been to US/IOA in about eight years.

We'll head home on the 26th and then will be with my sister and her family for New Year's Eve. My sister and I lost mom in '02 and dad in '05 so we choose to not celebrate holidays on official holidays. Instead, we do a relaxed appetizer spread on New Year's Eve and call it our holiday - works much better.

For the first ten years of our marriage, we would spend Christmas Eve with my husband's side and then Christmas Day with my side (or vice-versa) (driving 400 miles in between). My daughter (now fourteen) hated it and so after my parents passed, I said no more. We do Christmas in Orlando and then New Year's Eve with my family. There's just too much drama at my husband's side so we don't do holidays there. I feel bad but it's just not worth it.

We don't have any family near us so it's just the 3 of us. We always go to the movies on xmas day. This year we are going to see Chipmunks 2. We'll probably watch A Christmas Story a couple of times. Dinner will be roast beef, mashed potatoes and yorkshire pudding. This year I will remember to buy eggs for the yorkshire so DH doesn't have to drive all over the city looking for an open place to buy them.
