We have recently decided we are going to buy a new Travel Trailer. So, we are now going to save, save, save for it. Hoping to pay cash. When we sell our current camper, that will give us a head start. So, we will be trying to save another $10k....ohh, that is a lot! Not to mention it seems like it will take us for ever to save up 10K!!!!!

So, what are you saving for, and what is your biggest strategy?

Right now, I am working on the budget, so I am hoping to squeeze a lot out of that.

We're saving to pay cash for a new car (probably a Forester). We'll be buying it next spring. We've been putting money in a saving account for several years now and have the money to buy it already so anything in there now is just gravy.

A trip to Hawaii. Never been there and thought it would be wonderful to celebrate our 25th anniversary there. We have three years to save.

I'm saving for a downpayment on a house to be bought (hopefully) December 2011-May 2012. I also am saving for a 10-14 day trip to WDW next December.

I take advantage of account opening bonuses. I opened up a TD Ameritrade savings account where I automatically save $100 a month and after 12 months get $100 for free (also earn piddly interest while saving). Everything I save over that I save at an account I found at my local credit union that is a no fee savings account with a 5% interest rate but you can only withdraw two times a year.

I am very frugal with food lately and figure even if I have to eat a lot of cheap meals for the next year and a half it'll be worth it. I eat a lot of (vegetarian) red beans and rice and stewed tomatoes lately (I don't want to eat too unhealthy like mac&cheese or ramen noodles).

Disney Vacation Jan 2011 - well already saved for, but wanna upgrade to Poly :rotfl:
New Car - Cash in 2012
Kiddies College Fund
Retirement

Dave Ramsey turned me into a aggressive saver! :thumbsup2

Trip to see DH's mother overseas - will cost around $10K for airline tickets alone! Hoping to get a cheap-o hotel, so we are budgeting another $3K for hotel, food, and transportation while we are there. MIL has never even met our kids, and she just turned 80, so I told DH this is a priority for us before we take any more big vacations. WDW will always be there, MIL won't. I am thinking it's going to take us at least 2 1/2 years to save up because DH doesn't want to cut anything from the retirement and college savings plan he has going on.

Right now, we're not saving up for anything, except to pay off our travel trailer we bought last August. Have paid off 9k of it, and have just under 6k to go... Trailer cost about 12k, then another 2k for all the stuff we needed for it (hitch, stabilization bars, brake system, etc). Hoping to have it totally paid off by the end of this year.

Then the money we've been putting toward that (close to $1000/month depending), we're going to put aside into a vacation fund and hopefully go on a New England cruise.

We want to go to Europe in two years. It's kind of expensive so we are off to savingsland!

We're saving for retirement, college, a new boat motor, and to build a dock in our backyard. We're also only 20 months from being debt free INCLUDING the mortgage. I can't wait!!!:cool1:

My DD has been wanting to go to Hollywood - so next year, for her 16th birthday, we're going to California!! We'll see Hollywood, the beaches, Disneyland (of course!), and she really wants to shop on Rodeo Drive! Don't know that we'll buy anything, but we'll at least shop! lol

So I've been saving a set amount each week so we'll have a very nice vacation next summer!

We are not really saving for anything yet.

We just refinanced the house and will not have a mortgage payment in August. That money will go towards paying the car off, as well as the normal car payment. So the car will be paid off by the end of the month! Yay!!!
:goodvibes
We have been putting every spare penny towards the car payment. It has been wonderful watching the amount go down so quickly!

Next up is the credit card. That nasty thing.

We are going to Las Vegas in January - just DH and I - but will sell some stuff on ebay for spending money. The trip is already paid for.

I told my son that as soon as we are debt free (except the mortgage) we will go back to Great Wolf Lodge for a night. Paying cash. That will be our reward. Then on to step 3 : 3-6 months living expenses.

A house.

Our 2013 Disney trip with the whole family (Sis and Fam and Parents).

Disney!

We had already booked our trip for January 2010. A month or so later, I found out I was finally pregnant! :cloud9: Ten days after THAT my husband called and told me he had lost his job of 15 years and was getting no severance. So, needless to say...we did not go to WDW.

I hope we can manage a trip in January of 2011 - he is still not working full time but at least has a part time something:) We had all the money saved and have luckily not had to touch it. I am still adding to the account every month.

I will never again tell my kids about a trip like that until we are on our way, or close to it. That was one of the worst times of my life - to tell my 5 and 7 year olds that they were not going to see Mickey. They have felt a lot of changes since Daddy has been home, but that one had the biggest ooomph. :guilty:

A House
A Car
Retirement
Trip to Paris
Trip to WDW

This list could seriously go on and on...

I've heard great things about Mr. Ramsey, so maybe I should take a look at his program! :thumbsup2 His plan might bring me closer to our goals then what I figure!

I, personally, am saving for a vacation to Disney next year:thumbsup2

Other than that we save for Christmas presents and the kids clothing (this never ends.......blah, good thing I love to shop and hunt for bargains!) DH is saving to put a new stereo in his car (when I think of the wardrobe I could have with that money......

Kitchen appliances. My stove is on its last legs, the broiler doesnt work and 1 burner works most of the time. The dishwasher is going too.
