I have quite a collection of books started, and now I need to finish a few!! I am always tempted as well to start "just this one." So, here goes, and I'm sure I'll forget a few...
--Marley and Me by John Grogan (about 100 pages in and loving it -- quick and easy!)
--In Her Shoes by Jennifer Wiener (this is my "beach read," can't wait to get back to the cabin!)
--How to Be Good by Nick Hornby (I read A Long Way Down last year, and thought this one would be better -- I'm not sure. I go in spurts with his style)
--Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews (This seems VERY funny!!!)
--The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo (I am convinced that she is not capable of writing a book that I don't like)
--Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks (I need to get into the meat of this one, it is still pretty easy to put down, but I've heard it's excellent)
--Lucky by Alice Sebold (I don't know what to say about this one, but it really makes me think)
On deck for the summer are:
--How to be Lost by Amanda Eyre Ward
--Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani
--Resistance and All He Ever Wanted (and many others) by Anita Shreve
--The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst
--The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy
--The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
--Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts
--The Tall Pine Polka, Welcome to the Great Mysterious, Your Oasis on Flame Lake, and Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik
--Skinny Dip and Hoot by Carl Hiaasen
--A Salty Piece of Land by Jimmy Buffett
--All of Bill Bryson's books -- he cracks me up!
--Zorro by Isabel Allende
--Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
--Keeping Faith, Harvesting the Heart, Picture Perfect, Salem Falls, Second Glance, and Songs of the Humpback Whales by Jodi Picoult
For upcoming "beach reads" (I don't worry so much about these books getting wet, etc.):
--Step Ball Change by Jeanne Ray
--The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
--One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
--Eat Cake by Jeanne Ray
--Miss Julia Takes Over by Ann B. Ross
--Miss Julia Throws a Wedding by Ann B. Ross
I know that this is quite an extensive list, but with good reason! I have literary ADD, I can't pick just one and stick with it. Also, I am not working until after July 12th, and in that time I have one week up north at the cabin and 12 days in WDW -- and I figure it will be too hot to do anything other than read!
If you know anything about any of these books, please let me know which ones I should pick up in a hurry!
LOVE this thread!
