Good! I've been dying to talking to someone else about this book. Happy reading! :)

I'm 2/3 of the way through Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography of Lincoln called "A Team of Rivals" Really interesting reading.

Chubster
25 down another 50 to go!

I have quite a collection of books started, and now I need to finish a few!! I am always tempted as well to start "just this one." So, here goes, and I'm sure I'll forget a few...
--Marley and Me by John Grogan (about 100 pages in and loving it -- quick and easy!)
--In Her Shoes by Jennifer Wiener (this is my "beach read," can't wait to get back to the cabin!)
--How to Be Good by Nick Hornby (I read A Long Way Down last year, and thought this one would be better -- I'm not sure. I go in spurts with his style)
--Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews (This seems VERY funny!!!)
--The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo (I am convinced that she is not capable of writing a book that I don't like)
--Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks (I need to get into the meat of this one, it is still pretty easy to put down, but I've heard it's excellent)
--Lucky by Alice Sebold (I don't know what to say about this one, but it really makes me think)

On deck for the summer are:
--How to be Lost by Amanda Eyre Ward
--Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani
--Resistance and All He Ever Wanted (and many others) by Anita Shreve
--The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst
--The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy
--The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
--Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts
--The Tall Pine Polka, Welcome to the Great Mysterious, Your Oasis on Flame Lake, and Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik
--Skinny Dip and Hoot by Carl Hiaasen
--A Salty Piece of Land by Jimmy Buffett
--All of Bill Bryson's books -- he cracks me up!
--Zorro by Isabel Allende
--Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
--Keeping Faith, Harvesting the Heart, Picture Perfect, Salem Falls, Second Glance, and Songs of the Humpback Whales by Jodi Picoult

For upcoming "beach reads" (I don't worry so much about these books getting wet, etc.):
--Step Ball Change by Jeanne Ray
--The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
--One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
--Eat Cake by Jeanne Ray
--Miss Julia Takes Over by Ann B. Ross
--Miss Julia Throws a Wedding by Ann B. Ross

I know that this is quite an extensive list, but with good reason! I have literary ADD, I can't pick just one and stick with it. Also, I am not working until after July 12th, and in that time I have one week up north at the cabin and 12 days in WDW -- and I figure it will be too hot to do anything other than read!

If you know anything about any of these books, please let me know which ones I should pick up in a hurry!

LOVE this thread!

i'm almost done with 'orchid empress' (like reading about the chinese culture turn of the century) and also peter jenkins 'walk across china'
peter jenkins first walked across america in the early 70's as a young man to see what america was really like..it was SO good! he went on to write about his other adventures but 'walk across america' was the best.

"You Belong To Me" by Mary Higgins Clark. It's nothing too spectacular, but it's moving along. ;)

I just finished "Loamhedge" by Brian Jaques today. Now I have my bookmark in the last (well, the last in paperback anyway) in the Redwall series, "Rakkety Tam". After that is "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini.

Well I finished A Long Way Down and in the end I just don't think I liked it very much. Interesting concept but I just could not really get into it and I really felt like I could not connect with the characters.

I just started reading Disney War last night and it looks like it could be a very interesting book. :)

I'm reading "True Believer" by Nicholas Sparks. It's taken me a little while to get into it but it's good now.

I picked up a recent book by John Irving, "Until I find you". I find Irving's writing to be rather fluid without sacrificing complexity. ).

I'm about 200 pages into this one. John Irving is one of my favorite authors. I love his characters and so far, he hasn't disappointed.

Dmickey...I also just finished Skinny Dip. Good beach reading!

I just finished two of Steve Berry's books; The Third Secret and the Templar Legacy. Both were good books and maintained my interest.

If they ever make movies based on these books, they will stir up as much controversy or more than the DaVinci Code ever did.

I just blew through 3 Nora Roberts books this week. Now, when it comes to Nora Roberts, I'm usually quite :snooty: about her. Nothing against her personally, I just try to stay away from authors who seem to put a book out every week. But really, they have been entertaining. I can't even remember what they are: Montana-something, Brazen-Something, Virtue-something. Pretty good.

My cousin gave me these books a LONG time ago. I stuffed them in a trunk and I was cleaning the trunk out last week and found them.

"Marley and Me"...anyone with a dog (especially a large breed dog) should read this one.
:rotfl: - one minute
and
 - the next.

I am reading The Wal-Mart Effect - VERY eye-opening. I highly recommend it to anyone who shops there regularly.

Just finished The Elegant Universe which is about superstring theory. Interesting but quite a bit of it was over my head.

Misquoting Jesus is next on the pile, though I will probably read Order of the Phoenix with DS first.

Hercules -- isn't Marley and Me great?! I was reading it yesterday while DBF was talking on the phone and he kept giving me these strange looks because I was laughing. Then, he realized I was crying and he just put his hand on my shoulder -- I don't want to put this one down, and suspect that I will be sad to see it end.

I gave it to my sister for CHristmas, but I want to borrow it from her now!

Currently reading Patrick O'Brian's "The Ionian Mission," book 8 in the 21 book Jack Aubrey series. I so adore Stephen Maturin!!

Also reading "Long Way Round" by Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman. It's an account of their round the world motorcycle ride, which was shown in a Bravo TV series of the same name a while back. Sure wish the show would be released on DVD, it was so terrific!
