I have read all but the last Kay Scarpetta novel, the last few haven't been as good for me.

Thanks, Susan. I will check some of them out.
I have read all the Kay Scarpetta ones.....and also the Bones series by Kathy Reich.
I am going to the used book store on Thursday. I will see what I can find.

ITA with the above suggestions :goodvibes

Another JD Robb book out in February :cool1:

I'd highly recommend starting at the beginning of the Sisterhood series. While each book stands alone - the characters are developed as each book goes along adding another to the mix. Great reads :goodvibes

WHOO HOO!!! I FINALLY finished OUTLANDER! And I started DRAGONFLY IN AMBER by Diana Gabaldon. This one is a THICK book, I'm getting ready to go online to renew as it's due on Tuesday. No way I can read 800+ pages in 2 days, I don't care how much I read!

I downloaded Outlander on my Kindle from all the recommendations on this thread. I've got a long flight in a few days so I'll have plenty of time to start on this series. Hope I like it as well as so many on here ;)

I just finished Bloodroot by Amy Greene. I posted a few pages back that my mom had read a "WOW" review on it. It was just so-so.

I'm still trying to figure out what it was about.

Basically, it is about a family of mountain-women (Tennessee) and one of them in particular who has all these kids, they die, and she is left with one grandchild. That grandchild marries someone dreadful, there is a mystery as to what happens with the husband, she has twins, she goes nuts, the twins go to foster care, you read their story throughout. They find each other, find their mother, the awful father comes in at the end. There was a weird character throughout the book who interacts with three of them that I never got the point of. Just odd. Not a total waste of time but I would not pay for the book.

It's an excellent choice for a long flight - Outlander really draws you in. Diana Gabaldon has an incredible ability to make you feel "in the moment." I picked the book up when I heard so many book clubs were reading it (I haven't read a book that would be categorized as a "romance novel" before) but WOW!

You'll love it. It's a good thing you have a Kindle, because you'll download the next book the second you're done with the first!

I'm telling you. I ABSOLUTELY feel like I know her characters personally. I started reading her series on a recommendation from a customer I used to wait on at my old job. SO GLAD I took that suggestion. It's an AMAZING series! I'm only about 80 pages through the second book and I'm just drawn in. I so look forward to my DS napping or his bedtime so I can just sit down and read. :goodvibes

I just finished reading The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry, it was a great read... action/adventure/thriller. He has written a bunch of books that center around the character Cotton Malone, and while it is a series you don't have to read them in order to understand each book.

On deck I have Altar of Eden by James Rollins. I find his books to be similar to Steve Berry, then center around a few recurring characters but you don't have to read them in any particular order. Again, action/adventure/thriller.

I also love Harlan Coben's books, Lee Childs, Lisa Gardner and on my softer side, Barbara Delinsky and even Jodi Piccoult (it was a phase).

When I'm in a chic lit mood I love Jen Lancaster, Jennifer Weiner, Chelsea Handler.......

I could go on and on..... I'm always reading something!

Just finished "The Book of Ruth." It was a very disturbing book. I enjoyed the way it was written, and I knew something was going to happen, but was surprised at what actually happened. I think this is going to be one of those books that I need to process for a few days, before I decide if I really liked it or not. Know what I mean?

Next up for me is "The Elegance of the Hedgehog." This is March's book for book club. I've heard good things about it, so I'm excited to start it. After reading 2 heavy books, I need something light and fun to read. I think I might actually start the latest Peter and the Starcatcher's book. I think it's called "The Sword of Mercy." That might fit the bill before I dive into the Hedgehog.

I'll let y'all know what I decide.

Wow, there's no way I could read through this entire thread, so this book has probably been mentioned, but one of the books I've read recently that was really stuck with me is The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. Fascinating!

Thanks so much! I couldn't remember the name of the James Rollins book, but I recently heard a review of it on the Glenn Beck radio show (Yeah, I know-DH calls it my "Republican propoganda" show). He made it sound very interesting and I couldn't wait to read it. But then I forgot the name of the book and even the author. Please let us know how you like it.

I finished Hold Tight by Harben Coben and really enjoyed it. I'll have to take a look at this other books.

Now I've started the latest in the House of Night series, Tempted by PC Cast and Kristin Cast.

Just finished The Help last night. What a great book! On to The Shack tonight.

I am just starting to read 2 books by Edward Rutherfurd=The Rebels of Ireland and The Princes of Ireland.

I just finished The Endless Forest, the 6th (and final) book in the Into The Wilderness series by Sara Donati. I loved this series. Fans of historical fiction (i.e. Diana Gabaldon) should give it a try.

I've mentioned this before but there is a new series coming out and the first book comes out in the next week or so. The author is Heather Webber and the first book is called Truly, Madly. I think fans of the Plum books will really enjoy the series. I thought the first book was a ton of fun to read.

It TRULY is! I really adore Jamie and his "Sassenach". :cloud9:

I love, love love this series!!!
I am currently re~reading this series in order to read the newest one which I haven't read yet. I have already re~read Outlander, dragonfly in Amber and am almost finished with Voyager. Unfortunately I'll have to take break now because a book I had on hold at the library has come in.

Under the Dome by Stephen King, about 1000 pages, no description on the book jacket, wonder what it's about or whether I'll like it. Any input?

I am about halfway through "Too Big To Save: How to Fix the US Financial System" by Robert Pozen. He does a great job of explaining in clear terms how we got to the crisis point in the housing meltdown. I don't always agree with what he says, but would recommend the book to non-financial professionals who want a clear, concise explanation of the mortgage securitization process, etc.
