What Are You Reading Right Now?

Sooo... how was it? I'm about halfway through and I have to admit that I'm having a hard time sticking with it.

Amen, Sista! I have a love/hate relationship with SK. "The Stand" is my all-time favorite book and had hopes for "UTD". I don't care about any of these people and I'm 3/4 of the way through (although it's STARTING to get interesting). Guess since I'm online & not reading that says it all.

When you search on top-selling non-fiction on Amazon, this book shows up. Wonder if some people will be a bit freaked out.

Hmmm...you mean it isn't a work of historical non-fiction?

While I am intrigued by the book, I am left somewhat vexed. Why exactly was Jane Austen considered such a great writer? Or WAS she? Was it because she was a woman, or was her work considered a critical success? I'll be honest, zombie stuff aside (and I wish there were more of it), Austen appears to be the Stephanie Meyer of her time. So much wringing of hands, navel gazing, and angst!

Bring on the ZOMBIES! Maybe toss in a ninja.

Sad, disturbing, good. I'd definately say read the book before the movie, I just can't imagine it as good as the book.

I just finished "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks and I thought that was good. Now I am starting "Beautiful Creatures" by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It looks really good so I can't wait to get into it.

I am now reading The Lost Symbol- by Dan Brown.

About a year ago I picked up The Lovely Bones at a book sale and I read ~ 30 pages. I put it down as it was so sad/disturbing as a PP stated but maybe I will try it again. I had no idea they were making it into a movie until I saw the trailer last night!

I did 4 Stephanie Plum books in 4 days I believe. Going to pick up 8, 9, and 10 tomorrow at the library.

I have HOT STUFF to listen to by Evanovich also.

I KNOW Steffie sleeps with Ranger....YIKES! It's a "feeling" I have. What a way to end #7. I'm going to start looking at the end of the books while I'm in the library to make sure I won't leave myself hanging like that again.

I just found this thread! I will go back through the whole thread (when I have some time!) to make a list of all the books I should read.

I just finished Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. It is set during the Holocaust. I really liked the first half of the book, but the second half left me a bit disappointed. It wasn't terrible, just a little bit of a let down since the first half was so strong.

I just finished The Road- by Cormac Mccarthy

This is my next book (for Book Club). I am having a little bit of a hard time getting into it.

On my list for the rest of the month: The Help (Kathryn Stockett), Columbine (Dave Cullen) and Skeletons at the Feast (Chris Bohjalian). I am also looking forward to the final book in Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness series: The Endless Forest, which comes out on January 19th.

Curious, what was your take on The Road? No Country for Old Men disturbed me a lot, mostly the violence, so I'm hesitant to start The Road.

I am now reading the first book in the Twilight series. So far I am enjoying it.

Over the holiday, I finished "The Crimson Petal and the White." I really didn't like this book. It just didn't read well, I felt it wasn't written well, and the subject matter was not very interesting to me. Oh well, I'm glad that I can cross it off my list.

After that, I read "Too Many Crooks Spoil the Broth." This was a fun light read! I may just decide to read more in the series.

And now, it's on to "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. This was the choice for January's book club discussion. I need to have it read by January 7th, so I'm working on that! It's tough, since I got the third book in the Peter and the Starcatcher series for Christmas, and "The Lost Symbol" as well. Those are taunting me, and I'm beginning to feel that I'm back in school, and have to read the assigned reading before I can read for "fun." However, I'm really enjoying Into Thin Air. It's really good!

I just finished the First Sookie Stackhouse book and liked it more than I thought I would. I got the next 7 for Christmas as well and the Stephanie Plums from 4 to 10....I don't know what I am going to read next.
