What Are You Reading Right Now?

OMgosh, everyone. I am getting tons of ideas from you. :)

Right now I'm reading the 2nd book in the Outlander series, which was recommended from several people here on the DIS. Good books, and I'm enjoying the read.

The last books I read (all on my Kindle) were the Maximum Ride stories. They were fun, and I probably got through all the books in a little over a week. Very easy to go through for light reading.

It's set in rural Mississippi during/after the war. I haven't gotten as far as RUDisney, but from the description & what I've read so far it deals a lot with racism.

It really pulls you in right away. I ordered it on line from Barnes & Noble. It was actually on the "discount" page.

Thanks! It sounds really interesting. Another to put on my list. :)

I'm really on a roll with good books lately. Finished The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - big thumbs up! Also A Respectable Trade by Philippa Gregory - also very good. Just started Snow Falling on Cedars and it is a page-turner so far.

Just started The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Its not something I would have probably picked up but it was the selection for my book club this month. I've only read a few chapters but it is very interesting.

I'm just on a roll. Finished MANHUNT in one day and I've got one disc left on NAUGHTY NEIGHBOR. I'm gonna finish up that one and then I believe I get in to some David Baldacci. It'll take me a few days, maybe 4 to finish that one.

Her Fearful Symmetry

I read it this week. It is different from TTW, and I didn't enjoy it as much as TTW. I had a hard time liking the characters. And I was able to figure out the twist at the end before I got there.

I am trying to read it now. I was so disappointed that it wasn't a real grabber of a book when we were on the road. I ended up listening to The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell with DH in the car. I love the chapter about Sesame Street and Blue's Clues. The end was not as interesting as the middle. But DH re-listens to MG's books periodically so I know I will have more chances to hear it again.

I just finished "Carpe Demon" and am halfway done with "California Demon" by Julie Kenner. Fun, light books. I'm really enjoying them. I've got to find time to re-read "The Hunger Games" for book club, and then it's on to something else.

I'm reading Holidays are Hell its a compilation that includes Kim Harrison and Lyndsay Sands and a couple others. I am really into holiday books..sad but true I love them soo lol

I'm reading "The Secret Papers of Madame Olivetti" by Annie Vanderbilt....

Really good read....

I just finished the Lost City of Z. Its a good read if you are interested in exploration and real life mystery tales.

I'm going to start The Double Bind today. It's by Chris Bohjalian. My librarian recommended it to me. All of the librarians at my branch are usually right on when they make recommendations to me. I'll know soon about this one.

I finished Mudbound last night. I was going to recommend Tuesdays with Morrie for our December book club meeting, but now I'm going to recommend Mudbound. It's something that I just feel the need to discuss. I find it just as reprehensible how African Americans were treated during the early part of the last century (well, and further back, but I'm talking about post-Civil War America and after they'd been fighting wars for us) as I do about the Nazi treatment of Jews during WW2.

This book struck a nerve with me. If anyone wants to discuss it as part of another thread or through PMs, let me know.

I finished " Dead and Gone " by Charlaine Harris yesterday. It's the 10th of her Sookie Stackhouse serie I've read. The HBO series " True Blood " is based on these books. I really enjoyed them.

I was going to start "The Hunger Games" again, but can't find my copy. I hope I haven't loaned it out! I need to read it again for book club! Yikes!

Guess I'll start "The Blue Zone" by Andrew Gross until I can find the other one.

I am reading Lucy Sullivan is getting married by Marian Keyes. I am not liking it much and I just can't wait for it to be over. :headache:

I asked for the 8 books set for Christmas :)

Unfortunately, I'm not even close to finishing yet. Have only gotten time to read before bed the last few days. :guilty:

I've only just "met" Ronsel.

Then you must read The Help. That was also a nerve striker, and needs discussion. I lent it to a co-worker, and she's still bothered by it. I also lent her my Mudbound, and that will affect her as well.

I am reading Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series. I am up to "Into the Fire" and I love them all!!!!
