What Are You Reading Right Now?

I'm halfway into "The 19th Wife" by David Ebershoff. It's a work of fiction, but based on real events as told by the 19th wife of Brigham Young. The whole polygamy thing is discussed from both the founders of the Mormon church's view, as well as the modern day "fundamentalist" view. The whole polygamy thing is warped, twisted and very wrong in my opinion, but it does shed some light on why it seems to appeal to the early Mormons as well as current whackos (like the couple in Elizabeth Smart's kidnapping) who embrace "fundamentalist" Mormon views. Anyways, I'm just reading it for fun and find it pretty interesting.

Oh, wow! I'm reading this right now also. I can't decide if I like it or not. It's interesting but I'm not dying to read it like I usually do with many books.

I'm still trying to trudge through Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow. Seriously not sure if I'm going to continue though. It's giving me a run for my money. I just can't stay focused on it. I've given it my standard 100 pages & don't think I can do it!!!!!

Might pick up Mudbound tonight instead.

Right now I'm reading Someone Like You by Susan Mallery. The author was recommended to me as someone who writes similar books to Sherryl Woods, Susan Wiggs, Robin Carr. So far, it does seem similar in style so I really like it.

Yes, and I loved it! The monk story was a little drier and harder to follow than the love story, but overall I really liked it.

If you like the book I can recommend the Lone Star Sisters series - last one was "hot on her heels" just finished it last night on my Kindle also the Bakery Sisters series was a good as well

Finished THE GRAND FINALE today. I'm now reading MANHUNT and listening to NAUGHTY NEIGHBOR. Janet Evanovich is AWESOME. I can't wait to get to her Stephanie Plum books.

I'm going to have to read the Twilight Series now. I was told one of my characters is as alluring as Edward Cullen...I'm honored.

Oooh! That's a really good trilogy! It's in my top 4 favorite trilogies she's written (The Key trilogy is my all time favorite - I've read that one at least 5 times through).

I can't wait to start reading Mudbound again. It sucked me in right from the beginning. To the PP who first recommended it.... a HUGE THANK YOU!!!

OMG - I just came to post the same thing. Right from the very first page it lured me in!!! You know it's a good book when you think about picking it up during the day when you have a free minute!!! Can't wait to get my hands on it again!

I put down Presumed Innocent & started this & right now I'm not regretting that decision!

What sort of book is Mudbound?

It's set in rural Mississippi during/after the war. I haven't gotten as far as RUDisney, but from the description & what I've read so far it deals a lot with racism.

It really pulls you in right away. I ordered it on line from Barnes & Noble. It was actually on the "discount" page.

It was given to me by my sister last year. It is a light, fluffy book, pretty funny, with short chapters - just right for before you fall asleep!

Written by David Letterman's former girlfriend - one of many, many, it now seems!

I have to add it so more intense than just racism.....it is just layered....women's roles, war, multi generations under one roof....
When I originally read this book & posted it I felt so strong about it I bought 5 copies to give away....
