Mighty Queens of Freeville by Amy Dickinson. I'm enjoying it, although I haven't gotten to the part yet that would make my DH cry.

Last night I read Jodi Picoult's Handle with Care. It was good but not the best.

Applied Economics: Thinking Beyond Stage One by Thomas Sowell. I'm about a third of the way through. So far, it's quite good. His explanation of housing prices was very interesting. It's a great book for anyone wanting to understand what is happening in the economy and to prod you to think past the immediate effects of some of the proposed changes.

I just started the first Sookie Stackhouse vampire book -- so far, I like it.

And just finished the 4th Bubbles book by Sarah Strohmeyer -- it's sort of like the Janet Evanovich series, and so funny!!

I just finished "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova. It's about a woman with early-onset Alzheimer, told from her point of view. I found it to be haunting and heartbreaking.

I almost took that one off my shelf instead of the one I chose (The Space Between Us). I'm looking forward to reading Still Alice, but I'm sure I will feel the same way you did about the book.

I'm STILL reading "Purpose-Driven Life", by Rick Warren. I'm not really a Rick Warren fan but have heard many people talk about reading this book.

i skimmed thru this thread....has anyone read Stephanie Meyers The Host yet? Just finished it and I am sooo not a science fiction reader but I LOVED it!

I'm reading Running with Scissors written by Augusten Burroughs. It's funny and entertaining, a great read but his childhood was unbelievable.

I just finished Run for Your Life by James Patterson. Meh... it was alright. Michael Bennet, IMO, is a weak reproduction of Alex Cross.

I'm going to start Revelations, A Blue Bloods Novel by Melissa De La Cruz. I can't wait to see what's going on with Schuyler Van Allen in this book!

This thread got me into reading Jodi Picoult- who was not even on my radar. I don't know whether to say thank you or curse you for the sleepless nights I have had since I could not put the book down once I started (Second Glance, My Sister's Keeper, The Pact, 19 Minutes). Now I am reading 10th Circle and it is pretty good, but has not hooked me in as much (I can actually put it down and go to bed).

I also have given into temptation and have the Twilight books waiting form me to pay attention to them.

My advice to you is to catch up on your sleep BEFORE you start the Twilight series... and make some heat and eat meals in advance so you won't have to cook while you're reading them. They, IMHO, are even more of an addiction than Jodi's books.

I have not read Second Glance, but the other 3 that you mentioned were some of her best, IMO. Tenth Circle was OK for me - not anywhere near as good as the others though.

LOL, I have Step on a Crack, the first Michael Bennet novel, and never finished it! It just seemed like a warmed over plot from another book.

I wish you could explain that to my DH! He thinks I am whacky for loving Twilight!

I am reading The Historian, I forget the author, Elizabeth something.

How do you like it so far?

So many people raved about it, but I just could not get in to it. I read well over 200 pages & then put it back on my shelf. I told myself I didn't officially give up on it & may go back to it again.

It's okay, it is one of those books I picked up because I didn't have anything else to read, and would drop it if I found something else.

Totally OT, but I just realized that we live in the same area. I am in WNY also - Lancaster.

A former employee RAVED over the Historian and loaned me her copy. I couldn't get into it either.

I just got done with the new Kim Harrison and the two new Carrie Vaughn books. All of them were entertaining and easy reads but Kim Harrison is one of my favorite authors, so that one I loved. :)
