I just purchased Still Alice today & look forward to reading it. Of course, who knows when that will be, I have sooooo many books on my shelf to read, especially since I got a ton of new ones for Christmas (Nicholas Sparks novels, A Thousand Splendid Suns, the new Wally Lamb book & a few others)

I can't wait to dig into each & every one of them!!!

I just finished Certain girls by Jennifer Weiner. I thought it was alright.

I just started Queen of Babble by meg cabot so far it is hard to put down.

Do you typically like Jennifer Weiner? I tried to read Good in Bed, but I could only get through half of it. Her last name definitely suits her. I thought that she was quite the whiner in GiB.

I'm currently reading the fifth book of the Warriors: The new prophecy series by Erin Hunter, which is called Twilight.

I have 3 books on the go right now...

Nothing too exciting cause I am far behind on my lists...

I am reading "The Big Bad Wolf) by James Patterson (Alex Cross series that i started to read in 2008)

I am also reading Bones to Ashes by Cathy reichs (creator of the characters in the bones TV show)

I also begun Patricia Cornwell's "The Last Precinct" last night. It's the Scarpetta series...

One is at home, one is in my bag for when I am at the hospital and the other is if I get bored...

I got "Twilight" for Christmas...I hope I like it. All in all I got 7 books for Christmas.

I got Wally Lamb's new book (The Hour I First Believed) for Christmas and it is great! I adore his first book (She's Come Undone) and thought his second one (I Know This Much Is True) was good as well. I have waited ten years for him to write a new book! :yay:

OMG - you & me both. I bought it with a gift card I got for Christmas. I normally wait until they come out in paperback, but after waiting so long for a new book of his, I splurged & bought the hardcover!

How are you liking, "The Last Precinct"? I used to read Patricia Cornwell, but stopped when she used a talking cat in one plot. I don't remember which book it was. It was long ago. I really liked her but put down that book.

Anyway, I read a snippet about Patrica Cornwell. In the interview she stated she ushered in CSI and similar shows. I don't remember if it was the interviewer or Cornwell that stated people were fascinated with forensics because of her books. Maybe it did spark something. I don't know. The article went on with Cornwell revealing she was in a quandry with the shows. She didn't state her reasoning. Maybe she was concerned that alot of what she would've covered was on the shows. In any event, she was concerned. And she asked herself what did she have that the shows did not. Her answer was Scarpetta (I like Scarpetta). And that's what brought about the series.

I'm interested in the Scarpetta series too.

I am only 3 chapters in so I can't say just yet...

I have yet to come across a talking cat...but I hated the plot that made me think her pet cat Birdie was killed only to then ealize that it was not her cat but another...

I have liked her books so far in the Scarpetta Series but I like Cathy Riechs "Tempe Brennan" as well or maybe even better.

When it comes to Patricia Cornwell, I HATED that she killed off a love interest BETWEEN BOOKS...!?!?!?!? What the ???

I kept thinking I had skipped a book but I did not.

I like series where I can see a character being developed over a long period of time...I am on the look out for similar series I might enjoy.

Which love interest was it? I can't remember the name of the co-worker that she was having an affair with, but I read about his demise. It was awful grisly.:scared1: I can't remember her titles very well. It involved an elusive wicked young woman and equally wicked man.

HE was the FBI guy, but he wasn't really dead, go figure. I quit reading her a while back even though I think I have "Scarpetta" here somewhere, lol

I don't think it's the same guy, but he was in the FBI too. The guy I read about surely was dead. This guy was lured to an abandoned building and tortured to death. Brutal.

ETA- The young woman escaped from a mental hospital and had written taunting letters to Scarpetta. She was on a killing spree and they were chasing her from the clues she left behind. I wish I could remember the name of the book. I wouldn't mind reading it again.

She also had him killed off book (between chapters) and I found it to be so frustrating...I have no idea why I keep reading but maybe someday I will quit.

Benton Wesley was who I was talking about. Are you talking about the young guy, Talley?

I am reading Loves Music, Loves to Dance by Mary Higgins Clark. It is a great book. It is hard to put down. Very Suspenseful.

Right!! He had been her love interest for a number of books. Did you read about his death? Oh, it was horrific. To read about his wounds in Scarpetta's voice was just awful.

I don't recall the guy's name being Talley. But it could be. The young girl played a bigger role, I think. She was so twisted. I can't remember her name either. It's been a long time since I read it. Do you remember the title of that book?

ETA- Oh, I thought you meant the guy helping twisted girl might have been named Talley. The love interest in the book was Benton.

I just finished the Twilight series and now I'm reading Choke by Chuck Palahnuik. :thumbsup2

I found this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kay_Scarpetta

but it talks about Kay and Benton being married. I remember Trace, was that the one with Loup Garou(?) and then the slash killing of the young guy was maybe in Preadator? I have read so many, I'm sitting here with Book of the Dead in hardback in front of me and for the life of me I cannot remember if I finished it or not!!!!!

I just finished Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts and now I am reading High Noon.
