Tinkerbellarella, how was your trip to WDW? Fill us in! :)

The trip was WONDERFUL! I'll be starting my trip report soon and will post the link in my siggie if anyone's interested.

I'd like to know more about the book, YOU, The Owner's Manual.

From what I've read so far, which isn't a ton, it's got some good info, dumbed down but not to the degree that you feel like a kindergartener. I like the way it's structured. Unfortunately, it's on hold at the moment - I took Twilight with me for some airline reading and YOU got packed up at home (my boyfriend moved us to a new place while I was in Disney). Hoping to find that box in the mountain of boxes sometime very soon!

In regards to Twilight, at first I couldn't see what the HUGE deal was that everyone was making. I thought it was ok, but the last 100 pages or so really pulled me in. I enjoyed it enough to be looking forward to getting the next one.

I'm reading "Life of Pi." I'm about half way through it and so far, I love it.

One of my all-time favorite books!

Stuff I've read lately:

-Panic in Level 4 by Richard Preston. A collection of true short stories he's written about everything from a supercomputer to Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome (genetic illness that only affects boys)
-Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Better than I thought it would be from the description. A really enjoyable read.
-The Shack by William P. Young. Many church friends of mine recommended this. It was OK but not the best by a long shot. I did like some of the perspectives & trains of thought it explored but it wasn't 'THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!!!' like a few I know have claimed.
-The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry. Better than I thought it would be. I loved the descriptions of Salem, MA.
-The Guernsey Literay and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. I was prepared not to like it because I usually don't like books that are collections of letters to & from various people. But I decided to press on & I'm glad I did.

Currently reading:

-My Life as a Furry Red Monster by Kevin Clash. So far so good & fun to read.
-Lamb: The Gospel According to Jesus' Childhood Pal Biff by Christopher Moore. Way more funny than it should be. I feel a bit guilty reading it but its really enjoyable.

On the list for at the Library:

-The Friday Night Knitting Club
-The Heretics Daughter
-Scarpetta
-The Fire by Katherine Neville
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-American Wife
-The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
-The Gingerbread Girl (audiobook by Stephen King)

Does The Host get better as you read it? It's very sci-fi for my liking and I'm having a hard time getting through the first few chapters. I'll persevere if it is going to get better and go softer on the sci-fi. Otherwise, I'll just watch TV tonight and get more books from the library tomorrow.

Nothing recreational. I'm going to school full time, working half time, and volunteering a lot to get clinical hours in. So I'm reading exciting tomes like Anatomy and Physiology for Speech, Language and Hearing, and Audiology & Auditory Dysfunction. Plus I'm moving in two weeks. (aaaaahhhhh)

I'm going to hit my to read and watch list a bit over Thanksgiving. :)

Glad you had a great trip! :) I do read TRs from time to time. Remind us to check yours out once you've started it. Those books sound interesting!

Minniebeth, I'm sure you will still like Plain Truth, even knowing the ending. The characters and relationships are interesting and rich.

I just finished, Dancing in the Dark, by Mary Jane Clark. I really enjoyed it! I was stumped and surprised by the ending. I love a good mystery. I started reading another book by Jodi Picoult, Vanishing Acts. I'm hooked already. :upsidedow

has anyone read Rhett Butler's People?
a friend said it was good and gave it to me. her mom said it took her a long while to get into it.... i really don't want to waste my time if it's not really good...

thanks

I am currently reading Unfinished Business by Nora Roberts, which is one of her earlier books, and was written in the early 90's. I've only read the first two chapters, but so far, it is very good.

I just finished 20 Wishes by Debbie Macomber. I thought it was excellent.

I'm 2/3rds of the way through, Plain Truth. It's been excellent. I would have been done a long time ago if I had some big chunks of time. It's hard to put down! Thanks again to those that recommended Jodi Picoult. :goodvibes

I have 2 more of her books on hold. Hopefully they will be ready when I've finished this one. They are: Vanishing Acts and I think the title of the other is, My Sister's Keeper.

I loved all 3 of those books!

I am reading In the Presence of my Enemies by Gracia Burnham. It is an excellent book.

I just finished Nights in Rothanthe and just started Rogue by Danielle Steel.

The last book I read was Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, and I guess you could say right now I'm in the middle of The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, but I haven't done much reading the past several days. :sad1: Well, unless you count The Unofficial Guide To Disneyland.

Bram Stoker's Dracula finally came into the library, so I started that yesterday.

Just finished Stone Cold by David Baldacci and Brinsinger by Paolini is up next. I often have two going at once, but Brisinger is pretty hefty. I'll read it on its own. And I have "The Miracle At Speedy Motors" from the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith in the Coming Attractions pile.

DisFlan

I am reading two books...14 by J.T. Ellison and Deadly Night by Heather Graham.

Just finished, and wholeheartedly enjoyed, Deadly Night by Heather Graham. You do know that the next one in the series comes out in a few weeks, right?

Tonight I'm going to start what I believe is Patricia Cromwell's first novel, Post Mortem. I haven't read any of her books, so I thought I'd start with the first. Any opinions?

Just finished a book called The Law of Bound Hearts by Anne LeClaire, which was a light read. It was good - nothing exciting about it.
