What Are You Reading Right Now?

I couldn't wait to start, Nobody Knows, by Mary Jane Clark. It's scary. I love scary books, especially this time of year. I'm taking a little break from, Vanishing Acts, even though it's very good.

The trip report has begun!

I've moved on to New Moon in the Twilight series. I think I'm offically an addict.

Welcome to the addicts club! All it took for me was the first chapter of Twilight and I was hooked! I then proceeded to read the rest of the saga in less than a week

Funny, the for the first 3/4 of Twilight I couldn't understand the hype. I mean, don't get me wrong, I liked it and Meyer is a very good writer. I wasn't at all bored, but...I just...didn't...see...what...the hubbub...and THEN I read the last 1/4 and was just about hooked. I decided to buy New Moon just to see and was done for in the first 100 pages.

My 17 yo sister made fun of me for reading Twilight to my kids over the summer. She was here one day when I was reading to them and said that she thought it was boring.

FF to school this year and everyone's talking about Twilight. It was even one of the books that the regular English class had to read over the summer. So, she asked if she could borrow Twilight from me. I gave it to her and she liked it so much that she ran out to buy New Moon without calling to see if I already had it. She started it in the early evening and finished it at 5:00 a.m. She had to go to school that day, too. She called me when she got home and said that Borders didn't have Eclipse. That's the one book I don't own yet, so I told her to go to Sam's Club to buy it. She was going to drag my Mom there that night because Mom is a member and she isn't.

So, she's a convert and has apologized for criticizing my judgment in books.

I just finished the Harry Potter series. I know I'm a little late on that one but I love the movies and I've heard the books are even better (so right) so I decided to give them a shot. I got the set and read all the books back to back to back. I LOVED THEM!

My DD (12) has never been a reader, but with seeing me with a book in my face all summer has finally started reading. She started the first Harry Potter on September 1st and she's halfway through the 5th book now. She should be finished with that by Tuesday when they go back to school so she can take the next Accelerated Reader test. She already has 75 points for this year and I think in all of her years before she never accumulated 75 points total. I'm just nervous that she'll stop reading once she finishes the 7th book. She'd like to read the rest of the Twilight series, but the school doesn't have the AR tests yet and none of the kids like to waste their reading time when they don't get credit for it.

It made me want to keep reading once I finished the 7th so I don't think she'll stop reading. I was lost without Harry! I got into the habit of reading every night. I'm looking for another good series to get into.

Everyone's fave boy wizard, book 5 Order of The Phoenix & the Sex & The City movie book, plus magazines & catalogues. yeah, another harry potter nut! :)

I'm an HP NERD. I got way into it.
SATC the book, the original that started the series - absolutely hated it...and I love the show & movie. I'm iffy on trying anything by Bushnell again cause it took me forever to get through cause I was so bored by it.

I took SATC to Russia to read when we were adopting our kids. I started it, hated it, and left it there. I always loved the series but the book wasn't very good.

"friend or frenemy: a guide to the friends you need and the ones you don't" (andrea lavinthal and jessica rozler)

I love the series too but the first season is almost exactly like the book. It's just different, the way she talks to the camera face on and all the random characters that didn't stick around. There wasn't much of a plot to the first season, just like the book.

I'm actually re-reading the series now.... I just wish it wasn't over :sad1:

The last 2 months I've read most of Jodi Picoult's books. Mercy, The Pact, Plain Truth, Picture Perfect, My Sister's Keeper (which started the whole thing) and Harvesting The Heart. I like them all, but they are starting to get typical. I liked Picture Perfect because it had nothing to do with a courtroom.

I'm waiting for the Twilight Series at the library. I think I'm number 100 or something which is fine since I'm still reading a few of Picoult's books.

I'm glad I found this thread. I'm an avid reader so I'll have to start at the beginning of the thread and see what everyone is reading.

I am reading Breaking Dawn right now (Twilight series #4) and cannot put it down. Put another mark in the 40something mom category fan group!
Here is my word to those who have young DD's reading /wanting to read the series: my DD is 11 and wants to read them. The first two are fine and "romantic". The third touches upon intimacy and the last is definately more so. I would not recommend the 3rd and 4th for 11/12 yos. for this reason. Depending on the readiness of that type of subject matter, for 13 and above at least. This is typical of a lot of young adult series where the first few books are fine and then the subject matter progresses as the characters mature.
The Twilight books have definately hooked me! I'm trying to hook my friends so I can have someone to see the movie with and be as into it as I am!

I just finished reading Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. I saw an ad for the movie coming out in December, and it looked interesting so I thought I'd read it. LOVED IT!!

Just finished the Time Traveler's Wife. I really enjoyed it though I had to go back occasionally and check dates and times. Of course, I was home with 102 degree fever at the time.
