All of the books are autobographies of Jen Lancaster, falling into the "chick lit" type genre. She's fiesty, narcississtic and hysterical. If you want to get an idea of the type of writer she is, she has a website: Jennsylvania.

Bitter is the New Black is her first book, about her rise to the top of her career and then her disastrous fall into unemployment.

Bright Lights, Big A** is her second, bridging the gaps between her first and third books this one focuses on her rather hilarious home life and finding the "perfect place". She also talks about being published, temping, etc. The end is a segue into her third book.

Such a Pretty Fat is her most recent book. I read them out of order (this one first, followed by the first two) and this was, hands down, my favorite. It details her many varied attempts, successes and failures at weight loss.

Thank you for that link. I've never read any of these books, but was laughing hysterically reading her website. I'm going to Barnes and Noble to buy all of these books tonight!

I finished Twilight & am now reading an Elizabeth Berg book. I think it is called We All Are Welcome Here. Cute & light reading.

Twilight...................I thought it was good, but not amazing like so many other people have said. I mean it was OK, but not great for me. Enjoyable, yes...........outstanding, not so sure.

My DD16 is reading it now & said the same thing about it so far. Good but not great, compared to the reviews we've read.

I might read the sequel(s) but I won't be banging the doors of the bookstore down to get them.

"ladies of the night: a historical and personal perspective on the oldest profession in the world" by gene simmons

In light of his passing today, I'm going to re-read "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch.

I'm reading Interview with the Vampire and I'm underwhelmed. I think the movie was actually better. I think Anne Rice says in 300 words, what she could say in 10. It's a good story, but not as good as I expected that it would be.

I am reading "The Englisher" by Beverly Lewis, the sequel to "The Preacher's Daughter.
Interesting & a quick read so far.

I read several books lately...

Hollow by Norma Robert
One of those Malibu Nights by elizabeth adler
Thread of deceit by Catherine Palmer this one I really enjoyed great twist at the end. I never saw it coming.

I read some more I don't remember the names...One was love,eat and pray...I think..I didn't really care for....

I reading right now is Staying Home is a killer by sara rosett

I found a Nicholas Sparks book at Goodwill for $.99- Dear John. I loved it so much, I ordered 7 more of his books from an online book dealer-tried Goodwill for more, but no luck..

I tried to read Barach Obama's Audacity of Hope, but it was just too dry for summer reading for me.

I also have John Grisham's two latest that I haven't read yet-one a Goodwill find too.

I have started Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks, and I am just going to work my way through the rest of this books as the summer goes on.

I read that a few weeks ago...in one sitting. I know it's not a big book, but I am a sllloooooowwwww reader! I ate it up, what a great man. I was so saddened by the announcement of his death, he was such an inspiration.

ETA: He IS such an inspiration!

I have read all of Sparks books and adored them all with the exception of "Message in a Bottle", I might have to try that one again.

Sorry I did not read "thread of deceit" yet ...
the one I read was called The Sugar Queen by Sarah addison Allen ...I really enjoyed this book.

Athlon Sports Fantasy Football magazine :cheer2:

I'm picking LAST in my league and I'm NOT happy about it! So I'm studying!

thanks to whomever recommended the Fern Michaels series about the female vigilanties, I finished Weekend Warrior the other night and am picking up several more from the library today! Almost finished with The Rogue by Danielle Steel, quick, no brainer there, I read her books once in a blue moon, although Amazing Grace was a suprisingly decent one! Also havethe new Linda Howard and Tribute by Nora Roberts waiting on me at the local library. I read so much that the lbrary truly is my friend!

Has anyone read the book Middlesex?

DD saw it being talked about on Oprah yesterday & said it sounded really good. I read the reviews on Amazon, but wanted to see if anyone had opinions on it.

I just started reading Candy Girl by Diablo Cody. It's very funny and an easy read but the topic is WAY different than anything I'd normally read. I'm a little embarrassed to be carrying it around! Ha!

I am in the middle of "How Doctors Think" which is really very interesting, and I recently finished "Perfect Poison" by Joyce and Jim Lavene, which is part of a mystery series about Peggy Lee, who is a forensic botanist (studies the plant materials found on the victim for clues about the crime) and runs a gardening store.

Teresa

I just finished the last in the series of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward called Lover Enshrined. Good smutty vampire books but its ok every girl needs a little smut sometimes.

Next in line is City of the Sun by David Levien and 2 of Linda Howards books, Kiss Me While I Sleep and Killing Time.
