What Are You Reading Right Now?

I'm reading it this month for my book club. I am really enjoying it ... and I really didn't think I would! Could it be that the book doesn't read like a story but more like a really long magazine or newspaper article, and maybe that's why you're not liking it as much, LindsayDunn? I'm not normally into that "newspaper journalism" style of writing and am surprised that I'm enjoying the book. I'd like to see the movie once I finish the book.

That's what I was wondering. I'm used to reading who-done-it's and Picoult books, I think I'm just turned off by the writing style. I've decided to put it on the shelf and try it again later.

Oh, oh-I just bought My Sister's Keeper at a book sale. Now I'm not sure about reading it.

I loooooooooooooved this one, and the ending infuriated me, lol!! It's one of my favorites though.

I just finished The Last Juror by John Grisham. I thought it was a very good book and very emotional in some parts and surprising in others.

Hmmm, I may have to give that one a try. I have been disappointed with his last 5 or so books.

My DH is currently reading his new book, The Appeal, & said it is just like his old writing style (The Client, The Firm, etc.). He's enjoying it.

I recently finished Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult & have already started The Book Thief, which grabbed me right from the beginning. So far I like it.

LindsayDunn - well.............I didn't hate the ending of Picture Perfect, I didn't really enjoy it either. I thought it was rather lame, actually.

It really was not one of my favorite books. I just didn't get the whole Native American thing about it, as I didn't find the connection or any flow to it.

The book could have been much better, IMO!

Her new book is pretty good so far. I'm about halfway through it :)

I'm finally reading "Angela's Ashes." I'm about a quarter of the way through it and frankly, I'm not enjoying the experience. The family is dirt poor, the father comes home drunk and makes them sing patriotic Irish songs, one of his brothers or sisters dies, etc. So they move back to Ireland, where they're even poorer, more kids die, and the father drinks away his paycheck and makes them sing Irish songs.

It's just one damn thing after another. I'm about ready to give up.

Hated that book. Tried to get through it four times and finally gave up. Just too depressing.

Loved My Sister's Keeper but it's the only one of hers that I've read. Just finished Veronika and Astrid - it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it. Reminded me of watching a Bergman film.

I'm currrently reading The Other Boleyn Girl and loving it.

I just picked up James Patterson's Along Came a Spider. I haven't read any of the Alex Cross books, so I thought I'd start at the beginning.

I just finished Pop Goes the Weasel....LOVED IT.

I love how he writes and the short chapters are GREAT but since they are so short, you can usually CONVINCE yourself to read just one more before bed and then just one more, etc etc...

I hope you like them.

The only one that was not great for me was Jack and Jill...but then again, I am Canadian and the whole Washington thing may have been a bit lost on me. I did not hate it but I really loved all the other ones I have read so far in the series.

I am going to read another Patricia Cornwell Novel next and DH is getting me Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for my Birthday at the end of the month...I really need to finish that series but I only started it a short time ago...

Happy Reading.:thumbsup2

I love James Patterson! I didn't like Jester and the ones about the kids with wings were a little weird.
Bless your heart. Prepare to become addicted. :)
Isn't that the truth! :lmao:

I'm reading Inside The Kingdom by Carmen Bin Laden who was a SIL of Osama. It's really quite interesting and really shows life in Saudi Arabia from a woman's side.

Reading Strong at the Broken Places about people living with chronic illness.

Trying to read I am Legend, but it's just not capturing me. Can't wait to get the new Piccoult.

I am reading The Friday Night Knitting Club. :thumbsup2

I just finished Gone For Good By Harlan Corbin:thumbsup2

I just finished Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie." IMHO, it was one of the best books that I've ever read. It was so good that I now started reading Albom's "The Five People You Meet in Heaven." "For One More Day" is on deck.

John Adams by David McCullough and Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk

I got my husband 1776 for Valentine's Day. He is really enjoying it and showing some interest in the one you are reading. Is it any good?

I just read Jodi Picoult's latest, 'Change of Heart'. It was addicting, as all of her books are.

Not sure what to read next.

I'm reading "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama. I got it last weekend, but have been so busy with work haven't been able to read much of it.

I am taking a break from fiction and so I have been reading entrepreneur books.

I am now reading Mommy Millionaire: How I Turned My Kitchen Table Idea into a Million Dollars and How You Can, Too! by Kim Levine and Sister CEO by Cheryl Broussard.

I am trying hard to build up my businesses. :)

I'm reading this book now too, grlpwrd. Thanks for mentioning it. It's interesting. :)

I finished the book, "Last to Know", by Wendi Corsi Staub. I really like her style. It was a whodunnit/is doing it targeting moms  Suspenseful! I didn't know who was responsible. I highly recommend this book. I have 2 more of W.C.S.'s books on hold at the library.

I'm currently reading Asomov Foundation triology. GOOOD!
If you like SF that is:)

I was thinking about you the other day. Ending was kinda blah wasn't it?
Yeah, very blah! I just thought the whole book could have been better. It started getting good about 1/3 of the way through & then it just went downhill - at least for me.

I'm currrently reading The Other Boleyn Girl and loving it.
I really enjoyed this. I'm waiting for one of my DD's to start (& finish :goodvibes ) reading it so we can see the movie.

BTW - does anyone know if The Kite Runner is out on DVD yet?
