What Are You Reading Right Now?

I finally finished "The Elegance of the Hedgehog." It was definitely NOT one of my favorite books. It dragged so much, up until the last third of the book. I didn't really care for any of the characters, and it was just a so-so plot. I had to read it for book club, but it's not one that I would recommend.

Next up for me is "Beach Music" by Pan Conroy, and then "Truth and Beauty" by Ann Patchett.

Pat Conroy's books all rip my guts out (in a good but huge gulping tears way). Beach Music was great; try South of Broad if you enjoy it.

Just finished reading (okay, so it was an audiobook!) Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton. It was so good! He is such a great storyteller.

I just started All Together Dead, the 7th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I should be finishing this series this month. They are really getting boring. :rolleyes1

Oh no, don't say that! I should be getting the 3rd book of the series today, I'm hooked...I'd hate to be disappointed toward the end of the series.

Just finished The Time Travelers Wife. Took me a while to get into it but then I LOVED it.

I felt the same way after I read the 6th...I thought that was the least interesting book of the series...I went back loving them after that. :)

I liked all of the Sookie books. While Charlaine Harris is not the best writer, her stories are interesting. Don't worry about what other's think about the series. Read it and decide for yourself. It's not like these books are a long-term commitment. They are short and easy to read.

I think I've given up on Julie and Julia. Julie's mother is annoying me and while I can see your first lobster being a traumatic thing to boil, subsequent ones are easy. She lost me with her nonsense about how to humanely kill a lobster when it was her second and third one.

I started Nanny Returns last night. I only got through one chapter because The Middle came on and I had to watch that. I've got higher hopes for that than I had for J & J.

Reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. My high school age niece told me about this author. I didn't think I would like it but since I get my books from the library they are free. I really am liking it. Good fluff kind of read but the story is good.

Also reading The Last Train from Hiroshima. Wow. What a good book. It is a true story of what happened during and after the nuclear bombs over Japan. Not political at all. No bias at all which is what I wanted. It is all eye witness accounts from the pilots, navigators, people on the ground, etc. The title refers to a small group who actually experienced both explosions.

Just started The Art of Racing in The Rain by Garth Stein...love the story (written by a dog:dog:). Some of the twist were very surprising..didn't see them coming at all. I do get a little bored with the race car analogies. I am hoping to finish it tonight. :)

I'm currently about 5 pages away from finishing The Road by Cormac McCarthy. GREAT book, probably one of the best books I have read in a long, long time.

I will then start Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. Heard it was a great movie... I prefer to read the books over watching the movies.

I read that book a few months back and still think about it. Can't wait to see the movie.

Finished Outer Banks by Anne Rivers Siddons this afternoon. I really like those kind of stories where friends, relatives, etc. get together and hash things out. The only problem I have with the book is that it builds and builds and ends quickly.

Next on the stack to read is Quentins by Maeve Binchy. I've been reading a lot of her books lately. I guess someone must have had a bunch at home and gave them all to the thrift store right before I walked in.

I keep picking up different Maeve Binchy books at the library but can't decide..I am very interested in reading something of hers...Which would you suggest for the first one?

A few minutes ago I finished up Table Manners by Mia King. Fun, quick read. Read the book God Things first as it follows the main character. Also read Sweet Life by Mia King this week and would recommend that one too.

The one I just finished Whitethorn Woods is an easy read and different. I've read three others that I can think of Circle of Friends, Evening Class and Tara Road. I enjoyed them all.

I just got Stephen King's Under the Dome from the library. Seriously? I'm a voracious reader, but I think I'll need to wait for summer to tackle it. I did read The Stand but that was before kids. DD called it my Bible, DS called it the encyclopedia.
Is it easy reading once you get into it? Doable in a library cycle? Because I was 500-something on the list to get it. It would be a while before I could get it again.
Never been freaked out by a book before! Intimidating! :upsidedow

I did it! I finished Under the Dome today. I liked the book but not the ending.

My kids get their mom back!:goodvibes

Just started Hunted (book 5 in the House of Night series). Untamed (book 4) was so much better than the first three! I am already really enjoying this one as well! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you finished. I don't think I ever will! I've been reading it for over a month! I'm going to blame the Olympics on my lack of reading time. I am enjoying it though and really want to read but there has been no time.

Reading "Six Geese A Laying" by Donna Andrews. I love her books-her family is laugh out loud crazy!
