Just finishing up Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. I really like it. It reads just like he talks (if that makes sense).

Next on deck if Life by Keith Richards. Guess I'm into scandalous life stories right now. :lmao:

I read that book too. I got the same impression about his writing style. I have wanted to watch his show, but I haven't seen one yet. I don't really watch that much t.v.. Mostly news.

I'd also like to read, Life. Let us know what you think!

I'm plodding along with, True Blue, by David Baldacci. Haven't had as much time as I'd like to read but so far, it's pretty good. I'm about 1/2 way through. I mentioned earlier it reminds me of J.D. Robb and the Eve Dallas series. I think I'm going to pick up where I left off in the series after this book.

Started Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner. Should be a quick, easy, fun read.

By the way........do you pronounce her name "Whiner" with a long "I" sound or "Weener" with a long "E" sound? :confused3 I been saying it with the long "I".

Please post how you like that book. I just checked out the author on Amazon. It sounds like "my kinda book" although I haven't read anything by her in the past. She seems a little similar to Nancy Thayer, whom I just got introduced to from here, and love. So ket me know-I may have another new author.

I just got the John Ritter book written by his wife, Amy Yasbeck! I'm only through the first chapter but the preface made me cry! It is called With Love and Laughter, John Ritter which is how he signed autographs!

I've read 2 of her books so far & really enjoyed them both!!!

Have you read Kristen Hannah? Love, love, love her books. A little similar to Jennifer Weiner's but with more comic relief in them.

I finished "The Shadow of the Wind" last night, and didn't really like it. It just was too slow, and when things did happen, they were very improbable.

Next up is "The Professor and the Madman: A tale of murder, insanity, and the making of the Oxford English Dictionary". I'm excited to read this one!

Yes, I've read Kristen Hannah and have the same reaction. I think I'm going to the bookstore tomorrow, looking for Jennifer Weiner's books.

Hope you get to see one of his shows soon. They are pretty interesting and he is so real.

I'll let you know how it goes with Life. At 500+ pages, and me with kids and 2 jobs, I don't get much time. I love this thread though because in the past 10 years I've only read maybe 4 books through! And I was always an avid reader. It was nice to jump back in with Bourdain.

I'm glad to hear that. I liked how down to earth he was in the book. He described things like an average Joe would see them with a side of bad boy sarcasm (which I love ). That book was a good glimpse into the rules of the kitchens of restaurants. I raised my eyebrows a number of times reading it.

I know what you mean about little time to read. Stolen moments. So many good books. So little time! :upsidedow

I really liked that book. I cried like a baby reading it.

Agreed! I love every single one of his books, The Guardian is my favorite, i definitely recommend it!

Currently have about 20 pages left of Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark, highly recommend it for any of you that have kids that love disney! would say its for ages 9 and up but it depends on the level of your child :)

I'm reading the Dexter series. I'm about midway through Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I just finished The Burning Wire, a Lincoln Rhymes series novel by Jeffrey Deaver. Loved the latter and enjoying the former. :cool1:

My husband used to work in restaurant kitchens. I def did NOT ask him about any of that stuff. I really don't want to know. ;) Glad you enjoyed the book as well.

After a week of searching for something to read, I settled on "Me Talk Pretty One Day." Once I finish this book I'm going to continue reading the Sookie Stackhouse books.

Just finished up Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. A sort of paranormal mystery romance, it was good but not fabulous. I had read about halfway and stopped, decided to just finish it tonight.

Now moving on to Kingdom Keepers II: Disney at Dawn by Ridley Pearson

The Hunger Games is one of my favorite series! Soooo fabulous!

Just read Dear John.. hmm did not love it.

Loved the Last Song though.

About to read ROOM and Sarahs Key

Just finished "Backseat Saints." Excellent. Actually good to read before "Gods in Alabama."

I've been meaning to get to this book. Read a review a few months ago but my library didn't have it for the longest time. Thanks for reminding me!

I just finished Jimmy Buffets "Who is Joe Merchant"
I am not a Parrrot Head but like Buffets music.
I could see he has somewhat of an enjoyable writing style but was not amazed.Think I chose the wrong buffet book. I bought it for like a dollar in s used book store.
