Im stuffed just reading that! sounds great.

No starters in our house - the kids would never eat the main course if we did. :rotfl:Turkey crown topped with bacon, sausagemeat stuffing, roasties, plenty of veg, yorkshire puddings and loads of gravy. I don't eat the meat but will eat everything else. For pudding we usually have a few choices as nobody likes Christmas pudding. Banoffee pie for DH, something lemony for me and something with chocolate for the kids.

I'm cooking the dinner again this year, I have more or less decided on:

Starter: not sure I will bother

Dinner: Roast Turkey, roast pork with extra crackling, roast potatoes, carrots, bacon wrapped parsnips, brussels with crispy pancetta, peas & broccoli, pigs in blankets, sausagemeat stuffing & yorkshires (for my little niece)

Dessert will either be homemade yule log or chocolate roulade

Just found out we are not having Prawn Cocktail or a starter this year :(

Starter: Not sure yet

Main: Turkey(cooked on a rack of parsnips and carrots yum yum ) , sausage and bacon, stuffing, roast potatoes, carrots, mashed swede, sprouts, cranberry sauce and lots of gravy

Pudding: Christmas pud and brandy sauce

Basically she and my bro have decided to have there Christmas dinner at her mums so my mum has said there is no point having a starter now if they are buggering (is this word allowed?) off. I have tried to make her see different but I think she is sad that my Brother won't be here much over Christmas thanks to her

I will miss my prawn cocktail :sad1:

That is such a shame that she is not even going to be there for dinner and she is still effecting it.:sad2:

:confused3 I thought you didnt want her there anyhow emma so you've got what you wanted.
I seem to remember a thread last week saying you thought it might be too much for your mum or have i dreamed that :confused3

I don't want her there, but i want my brother there. We have never had Christmas dinner without him.

Alot of things are too much for my mum at the moment, but she loves her family Christmas dinners and this year my Brother won't be there and shes upset about it. But the only way my Brother would have dinner with us if my mum allowed the SIL's mum to have dinner with us and that is too much for my mum to take on at the moment.

Oh can I join in? These sound great!!

We used to always have turkey, but for the last 2 years we have shoved tradition and we are now having beef Wellington, from our favourite local farm shop!

We have Christmas Dinner in the evening at our house, my parents refuse to feed the whole of our family for two meals. Well we usually have around 13 or 14 of us (which is almost our entire extended family), which might get even bigger this year! :scared:

For the last few years we have had lunch at my other half's family, just a simple soup, and since both families get on, it all works out rather nicely. Usually a scrummy french onion soup (no cheese on mine!)

For dinner we will have:
To start: Soup or pate and toast
Main: Beef Wellington, roast potatoes, carrots, brussell sprouts (which have to avoid my sister and uncle), cauliflower, gravy... all that good stuff! We also have nut roast kind of things for the two veggies.
Desert: Christmas pudding, set alight with brandy, ice cream and something chocolaty for my sister who hates christmas pudding, and home made mince pies (which me and my other half always make, it's been our job for 5 years now!:lovestruc)

It makes me feel all festive just talking about it!
