Can't believe it's only a week left before Halloween. Somehow, this year it just snuck up on me. LOL

I live in a housing development and gets TONS (and I mean TONS) of kids for trick or treating. I usually start buying bags of candy somewhere in the beginning of September and continue buying a few bags a week until the "big day". This year though, I still haven't bought even one bag yet. I will pick up the majority of it tomorrow morning when I go grocery shopping but I'm not sure what to get this year.

I have ALWAYS handed out every mini chocolate bar you can imagine. Now I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford it this year (since I started so late and since I need to buy so much at once) So I'm thinking of either getting 2-3 big bags of the chocolate bars or maybe a huge bag of tootsie rolls or something. HHMMM....

So what are you handing out?

we don't stay home on halloween night-we trick or treat with our closest friends, but even if we were at home, we wouldn't have any trick or treaters, b/c we live out in the sticks. i usually buy a bag of reese's cups or snickers bars and take them along, and let the kids eat them as we go. this year, we're going to the high school marching band's halloween party after trick or treating, so i'll probably just take a bag or two of candy along to the party, as well as the brownies i promised to make, lol. sugar overload, you think?

I pass out whatever is on sale. :rotfl:. We live in a HUGE neighborhood and get lots of kids. I try to get decent stuff though.

I'm handing out the leftover suckers we got at MNSSHP!!:rotfl2: DH and I have tons of them left. I will probably buy some more too, but the suckers are going first.

We have some MNSSHP candy to hand out too! I've also bought two 40 ounce bags (kit-kat and reeses cups) from Walmart as well. We are in a new house this year so we will see how many trick or treaters we get. :confused3

We live in a neighborhood that gets slammed for trick or treating. My parents come over and hand out candy while we take our boys around the neighborhood. This year we decided to do stickers, pencils, and a little bit of candy.

I have one box of full sized candy bars-I think 32 bars. We get few trick or treaters and will probably have quite a few left over.

I get the huge bags of tootsie rolls and each person gets 6 to 10. I also have suckers for the little ones and bags of cookies for the toodlers.

When I was a kid, my next door neighbors always gave me a full sized candy bar instead of whatever they're passing out to the masses. I loved them for that gesture, so I bought a box of full sized candy bars for the dozen neighborhood kids I know by name and sight. I bought a mixed box of Reeses, Kit Kats, Almond Joy and Hershey bars. The good stuff I tell ya :thumbsup2

For the rest of the trick-o-treaters, I have Starburst and Skittles in fun size.

Our neighborhood is incredibly hit or miss - one year we will get several hundred trick or treaters - the next we might get 50 - so strange.

Due to this, I just buy the good stuff (mini reeses, kitkats, snickers) etc that I know DH and I will eat or take to work with us in case it's a quiet year.

Which reminds me - i don't have any yet! Gotta get on that tomorrow :scared1:

Having a 1/2 mile driveway we don't get many trick or treaters at all.

But I did stock up on Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.Trust me they won't go to waste.Only my waist line!!!:rotfl:

We usually get what's on sale but mostly chocolate, some skittles type. All the candy I buy is sealed as I use to throw away anything that wasn't sealed when my kids were younger. I'm waiting for my house to sell so just moved into a gated apartment complex and have no idea how this year's trick or treating will go. I'm the only one with orange and purple lights up. I've seen one other window with a decoration but that's it. I'm guessing all these people will be surprised when they see my Christmas tree go up soon :lmao:

We went to Sam's yesterday, and got three of the jumbo variety bags of candy. Two of the bags are chocolate based candy bars, like Snickers and Butterfingers, etc. The other is non-chocolate content with taffy and Sweettarts. My wife likes to vary the content distribution based on the quality and effort of the costumes. The more effort that went into the costume, the higher the chocolate output.

Target had big bags of Smarties on sale 2 for $4. I got 4 bags of those. It's the only candy that no one in this house will eat. If I get anything else, its gone before Halloween.

We give out full size candy bars. I loved it when I got full size bars as a kid, so I like to do that for kids now. They're always so surprised -- it's cool.

We are giving out these coupons to mcdonalds for a free small fry its like 1 dollar and you get five of them (We only get 30 or so in the area) and we're giving out a little bag with tootsie pops, the coupon, and some assorted chocolate. My neighbourhood everyone knows each other so some people even make homemade candy apples and baked squares etc...but if we didnt know each other we wouldn't do that ...

I remember being younger I always got excited about getting cans of soda and full size chocolate bars lol

We are passing out 2000-5000 pieces of candy and none of it chocolate! Yes, at least 2000. DH is in the US right now for a meeting and he is in charge of buying and bringing it back here to Singapore. He usually buys laffy taffy, nerds, airheads. We aim for 2000 pieces, but there is usually around 5000 trick or treaters in our neighborhood (because we are the "expat" neighborhood). Some friends are doing it with us and bringing in extra. Hopefully we won't run out as early as last year! It's crazy but fun :) and I've never seen anything like it!

Went to the Christmas Tree Store today and bought 2 bags of each~
M&Ms
Junior Mints
Charleston Chews
Milk Duds
Chocolate Kisses
Blow Pops
Hersey Miniatures
Twix fun size
Scooby Doo Sweet Tarts

They also had a 90 piece Disney Halloween kit which I loved! Toy Story, Tinkerbell, Monsters Inc, & Cinderella pencils, sticks & temp. tattoos.

Hoping we have enough.....last year the doorbell went from 11:30 - 8:30:scared1:
